The bottom in this index pre-dated the 2008 implosion by a few months.

It doesn't bode well, but it could be a false negative...

The Baltic Dry Index hit a 25 year low in January 2012. The latest chart shows it testing January support
levels. Should this index close below January support it would be a strong signal of an economic collapse coming.

Here's the latest update of the Baltic Dry Index. The last time the BDI dropped 8% in 1 day, 10 million people lost their jobs.
