I remember when I was in high school (even in college), just merely 6 years ago, this type of behavior was considered appropriate. You had to be a man and confident to approach women, sitting on the sidelines just wouldn't cut it. Just check out all of the RnB and hip hop videos that still portray this behavior as the ultimate way to get ladies. The problem is if you are ugly, average, or not wealthy then women don't want to talk to you. If any of those guys were handsome it would be a different story.

As others have mentioned, its pretty bad when hello and how yah doin is considered harassment.
