So, a draft for the next war of opportunity? Not for nothing, but it's pretty easy to get shot here over some minor or possibly fiction legal issue. Why should someone drag MORE PEOPLE into these things? Do these women want to be treated like shit & have whatever problems the military throws at them?

Don't they know that they get seen & treated more or less as property- including on a medical level? Plenty of things that get "suggested" to women aren't nearly as safe or as accurate as they get made out to be- which, in the military, are imposed. Supposing I met my wife in the military & she had a miscarriage down the road because of this? "Honor" & "loyalty" at work? Never mind how the government doesn't pick its allies very well & they'd potentially be surrounded by them quite literally.

I seriously don't get the allure- women CAN always join voluntarily, why would they be okay with being dragged into it? Or is this another situation where the "representatives" speak for themselves & shift blame onto the public?

I bet anything these politicians who promoted this won't have any of their children being sent into a future war!!! I can easily see that many young women will get pregnant ON PURPOSE just as a new way to dodge the draft should it be reinstated.

I'd be more useful, too- since the concept of third-party abrogation of anThey make a law, everyone else strikes it down (except for the "uncle toms," of course). One random bitter old conservative man once made an observation to me. He pointed to some dumb looking American teenagers who were screwing around being dumb in public playing dubstep music. He said "These people here, will be the people who'd have to defend us if China invaded us." Now, I don't think a Chinese land invasion is all too likely, but it's still an interesting thought experiment. Take a look around in any public place in America. Look at the military age men. How many look ready enough for military service? Statistically, 33% of adults are OBESE here, and 2/3 are at least overweight. This means only 1/3 of people basically are eligible to be in a combat role in the military. Of course this doesn't count people with various mental disabilities and psychological problems, too.

I used to believe they'd be "bringing back the draft" and whatnot. But who the hell would they draft? The Army supposedly now is rejecting 80% of people who apply anyway now, so I imagine with a draft that'd be what, 95%?

Well, the idea is probably just a short-sighted concept within a bad idea. I don't really have much faith in this country on that level, since the leadership basically keeps f***ing up & for whatever reason the "underlings" don't flip out on them (at least very much, that I know of). I think those older people should worry about that more than if a bunch of goofballs not acting militant in a day-to-day situation. Interestingly, they'd probably have (rightfully) thought them nuts if they were acting all militant & paranoid- doing low crawls across the street, for instance.
