Seems to me their breakup isn't related to his cancer. Probably the many years of failed pregnancies estranged them from eachother. Even looks like he might've instigated the breakup.

Yeah, judging from the article tensions have built up because they had problems having kids. It's devastating news for a woman that she won't be able to have kids easily, or at all. It can make or break a relationship. I wouldn't be too judgmental in this case. A shame though, they looked a wonderful couple.
