Meeting the Parents
Mostly what it is, is just an old tradition that they want you to meet the family. Its not a prelude to marriage. There are laws here that an elder member of the family can impose upon the girl if she is younger 18-25, but most will not impose this unless they really feel it is necessary.
I met a girls family when I went to Gen San and while I had a good time with them and enjoyed the trip. I felt bad about it cause I had no intention of marrying the girl. What I would do if you have just met and she asks you to meet her parents, ask if it would be ok to wait for a while till you know each other better. That will be ok with her, but if you continue to be with her, she will expect you to meet her family. If you dont she will get mad because she will thing you are not serious with her.
Just be careful with her feelings

100% Filipino guy here.
Meeting the parents is just an old tradition in here. As this is an old tradition, let me tell everyone that this is NOT a requirement.
Hope this helps.

If I had the best attitude with her, and she knows me for a long time, why should she suppose I am not serious?
Bad stereotypes. I don't want to get forced to knew her parents as an obligation.
I want to do it, when I want it, if I want it.
Of course, this does not mean by any means that I am not serious.
I am much more serious than the guys that meet girls families...

How you can resist effectively to this 'extraction' test?Winston wrote:Well it means you're getting serious with her, or else she just wants her parents to see you to see what they think. It doesn't always mean they are serious.
I've had girls invite me to meet their parents after one date, or during our first meeting.
However, there's little advantage in it. They ain't gonna do anything for you. But you risk getting asked for money. They may test you to see how "extractable" you are.
Dianne's family and relatives tried to extract from me several times, but stopped after they failed.
In their hearts, they do not see you as part of their family. They just say that to make you feel obligated to support them. Why would they give a F about you? You're not their blood or family. Filipinos often backstab their own relatives, so why wouldn't they do that to you?
Re: Filipinas and their Parents?
I dont get this asking for money thing.
So these relatives just ask for it after you just met with them? As a loan or gift? What amounts?
I just cant imagine some stranger asking for money directly, wouldnt that make them feel awkward, I wud just laugh at that thinkin its a joke.
