Chatting in Skype, viber and dating sites

I have seen the 'story' for many times, so it's time to ask here:
does it make any difference, to chat in skype, than inside a dating site?

Ok, for viber, I can understand it, as you told me that there is free use in ph, for the majority of mobile users. So, for free use, you can't go wrong.

But, they even press me to talk in skype, they prefer it over dating site, for talking.

Why this preference?
Is this a matter of data and expensive prices?
Text messages in skype, use less data traffic and so the charge is less, than login and chat inside a dating site?
This is the only explanation I can think, but I am not sure.

Webcam option available on Skype? Maybe they want to see who they're talking too and that should be your prerogative too.

This strikes me as unusual. Most girls want to video with guys, whether via Skype, old standbys like Yahoo Messenger, etc. And I had no interest in a relationship with someone I could not see - at least sometimes.
