The new world empire, China

Post by sentinel89 »

"If you were smart in 1807 you moved to London, if you were smart in 1907 you moved to New York City, and if you are smart in 2007 you move to Asia."
-Jim Rogers

I want to know what people who have experience in China think about this. Is China going to be the new empire of the world? It seems to me that there has never been a time in history when the strongest economic powerhouse did not exercise its muscle and maximize its influence across the globe. My prediction is that China will be the new reigning empire. I think it will put the U.S. in the dust. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing Chinese aircraft carriers along American shores within the next 20 years.

It's a little early to make that prediction, but the PRC has been busy learning "power projection".

No.

Human history is coming to to an end. The posthuman era is about to begin.

America is Rome and China is the Byzantine Empire and it is 400 AD. America will disintegrate and China will hold on to what it has but never amount to much. The world will just descend into chaos, another Dark Age.

It's still hard to say. I mean you can make the argument that China is rising but USA still has in my opinion the longer reach in media and social influences. I mean in CHina they get Hollywood shows but here in the states you don't really get too many Chinese movies being played in US cinema . I still think US has the stronger military with better weapons compared to China. When it comes to economic forces ..it depends on how you look at it. It's possible that China can beat USA in the coming futures base upon economics but USA is still hanging in there.

The other factor is culture...I have to say USA has a gutter culture and you have gutter type people in USA but it's balance out with really educated US people. That's weird thing about USA ..lots of dummies but as long as you have some of the elite class that does the thinking it can directly the country but it can go either way.

I haven't been to China so I can't say for sure how the country is like...on top of that I think USA has military bases station in Asia so that can also play into it.

There is no doubt that the US still has military superiority today. In 1993 China's missile forces were still using cardboard boxes with marker-drawn instruments as simulators:

Today they're busy testing stealth fighter and aircraft carrier technology. The technology gap has closed considerably in many areas, while the US can still afford to maintain military superiority, countries like Japan can no longer keep up.

This sounds about right.

Chinese carriers near US cant happen unless the US crumbles into disparate parts, and the West Coast republics lack naval defense.

But the Chinese have already snuck a submarine past all our defenses, launched a missile right off the coast, seen by all:

Stumblebums of the USSA Keystone-Cop military stuttered out some baloney explanations. Whereas the Chinese had enough tact and savoir-faire to keep silent about their triumph.

Nevertheless the Chinese have never successfully projected power to other continents. They are all about the show.

Up until recently, China did not have a sizable "blue water" navy since early Ming Dynasty, back when the Ming Navy was powerful enough to conquer Sri Lanka in 1410-1411. Recently from 2008 to present, the PRC Navy has grown significantly, adding about 2 dozen corvettes, 2 dozen frigates, 1 dozen destroyers, over 2 dozen subs, a refurb carrier, plus numerous support ships.

Lesser known is China's consolidation of 5 coast guard and marine police branches into a single org. This consolidation allows pooling of budget for procurement, so instead of 5 branches fighting over scraps, they're now building >10,000 ton Coast Guard "cutters".

This is why Japan and Philippines are scrambling to join forces, but I think they're well aware that they have no hope of winning in South China Sea confrontation without USN.
