Re: Japan: Age of Withdrawal
The same thing is happening across the Western World...it is just not as apparent.
Look at Male Labor Force Participation Rates in the US....it is dropping significantly now.

Re: Japan: Age of Withdrawal
Japanese people in general are not very communicative and many young men nowadays prefer only to work enough for their own basic needs, it is true that to find a reasonable Japanese female is not easy at all. Why even bother with dating...
Hwever in Japan society is not hateful to each other, it's not to be for it and not to be against it - it is somehow to see the other person next to you as 'transparent' 'not existing' - Do not disturb me, I will not disturb you...
About population, opinions are divided, many consider that Japan is a small country, based on islands, overpopulated and some reduction of the population is not really such a bad thing, many feel that 100 million people would be just enough, a bit less income, but in return a bit less working hours, a bit more space....
A a fact, to stay alone, no family, no children helps to bring slowly down the population of 125 million people.
Men in general in Japan are not treated so badly as it is in Western countries, this is not a man-hating society and should not be compared with US. Most people in Japan - more than 96 percent - are nothing else but Japanese, not mixed and not mistrusting each other like in US or UK.

yohan,
Not yet...but blame it on the media and expats that want to change that.
