My observation: the word “ pure” in the Philippines means that the people did not have have any non-Filipino citizens marry into the family for at least 4–5 generations and that the last name is either Spanish or native. So, basically it means that for some 100 years back, all people were Filipino citizens.
So, there is a time limit on “ purity”. Beyond that, going back 300–400–1000 years ago, all kinds of mixture happened. Mostly Indo-Chinese base, with some more recent Chinese, more recent Indians, some Arabs, some Spaniards, some Greeks, some Anglo-Americans, but as long as its before 100 years and the family name is “ pure” or so, a person is called “ pure”.
Of course, all these looks come out as newer kids are born. One looks lie a Thai person, one looks more Chinese, one looks like an Indian, sort of, and one looks vaguely Spanish. But as long as it’s not observable or documented recent admixture, these people are called “ pure Filipinos”.
