Internet access from computers/mobiles & public/home?

Post by mentor »

I wonder how they access internet in Philippines, most of times.
All these girls we see in dating sites, usually use their mobiles or they have access to computers? Do they go (the majority) to public places for getting internet access, or what is the percentage of having internet at home, approximately?
Of course there are all forms of internet access in Philippines but I want to know what usually happens for the majority of girls.

Interesting question.

Home wifi runs around 900php monthly for 1mb dsl only here in Angeles City. If the girl is living at home chances are good her parents have basic cable + wifi. It is around 1300php for the package. They actually have fiber connections here that run up to 20000php a month for 100mbs. My 2mb dsl + cable(with a few hd channels, hbo, cinemax) is 1500 a month. There is a 20mb fiber connection here in my apartment complex that is included in the rent. Most tenants here are girls with foreign boyfriends that visit for a couple months then go back home. The connection is always slow from so much traffic as you can imagine.

Many of the girls here in Angeles have a smart phone. Several girls will rent a shared room, a small house, or an apartment. They can get access from a nearby hotel as they are everywhere here, and one of the more established girls staying in the place will have the passwords for the hotel wifi.

There are also many promos here from the major carriers like globe, or smart that come with free facebook, and viber.

The newbies will be using an internet café until they get a sponsor since they are rolling around with a push button cherry mobile talk and text only phone.

I talk with a girl and she told me she has internet at home. She is poor, so I guess she should have the most minimal internet package.
I don't think she knows about technical specifications.
She mainly uses viber, but I wonder if the 'small' internet packages sold there, can support a simple skype videocall, even in low quality video.
I guess that if the minimum package sold there is 1mbps, then it should be sufficient for a skype low quality video call, but if you have related information please tell me.

How often are going down the internet connections in Philippines?
I know that maybe sounds like a generic question, but I hope that somebody could give me an idea of what is happening.

This question came to my mind again, as regarding one girl I talk to, I saw her that she was online, I waited a response from her (as the last message of our communication was from me), but she did not respond me.
I decided to send one more message (second in a row, from me, one in one day, one the next day), asking her if she really want to continue our discussion.
And then she respond me, telling me that 'internet was down yesterday' as an explanation for not responding me yesterday.
But, she was online sometime yesterday.
Strange things.
Was she online, but she did not manage to send me a response?
I will examine her as careful as I can, but I want to know if this explanation is sufficient for you.

I am talking with a filipina this period, and her internet on mobile is super slow.
Where it is better to search for free/cheap but fast internet connection, in order to have better communication with videocalls sometimes?

This thread should be expanded upon

Im finding the globe smartphone internet quite slow in Davao, and patchy in manila too

Is Smart better? I freakin hate when you forget the package and send one text message, and wa-la there goes your internet credit lol

So what is the answer to get high speed internet? netcafes, certain hotels or restaurants? Im willing to invest in a good package, especially if it fulfills my dream of high speed internet while on a remote island ;) I love the idea of that

I got tired from girls who does not have internet access after a while, soon after the beginning of our discussions...
From now on, I will look for girls that had a wifi (unlimited net) at home, as I got many efforts with girls with only mobile connection,
and it all gone bad, either they tell me the truth or not(pay for load) about their net connection...
So, it is the minority, but net it is the only way to bridge the distance, it is crucial, and I will prefer girls with a wifi at home...
