Anyone know how Japan is like?

There has been talks about Thailand and the Philippines but I am curious to know about Japan.

Most of the info I get about Japan is that if your young , white and good looking it's a piece of cake to get a Japanese girl friend.

I like to know what about Asian Americans in Japan. How do they over there?

Advantages: 1st world nation, very convenient and it works. The girls are kind of pretty. If you get one, you will not have trouble bringing her to the US- no visa needed for 3 months ( do not quote me). Intellectually and culturally they are on par with the West. No need to deal with 3d world extended families with their 3d world problems.
Yes, you can find a girl if you are white and good looking but it will not be easy. The Japanese are so reserved, shy and cold that they consider Brits to be 'open' and 'expressive'. And they consider Americans to be friendly and "akarui' which means- bright faced/joyful people. That says it all. Most meetings with girls will be through introductions,not the way Winston picks them up. Living in Japan is not easy as the people can be very xenophobic and hospitable at the same time. Everything is outrageously expensive. Raising a mixed family is only comfortable if you have a large income. Also, most Japanese landlords do not like to rent to foreigners or mixed couples unless you pay a lot of money for upscale places.
Unlike in the Philippines, the majority of girls are not virgins and they are quite independent and have money.
In my 2 years in Japan, I only dated 2 girls. In the Philippines, I dated almost one every day.
Conclusion- women are better than in the US or the West but nothing even close to Russia or the Philippines. And it should be about 3 times easier to find a GF there than in the US. But they are kind of bland.
In the Philippines, otoh, it is 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times easier to find a girl than in the US.

Asian Americans? Hmm, they are not as well treated as whites and do not fare well socially. I have not seen one who got a Japanese girl. The Japanese do not as a rule like other Asians and prefer whites over them.
American = White to most of the world and Japan is no exception.

Japan is richer than the Philippines.

Some Japanese men go to Thailand and the Philippines for the whole sex tourism thing. Something that allot of us don't want to admit but the reason why getting a girl is easier in the PHilippines has to deal with the socia-economic issues of that country.

Japanese do look down on other Asian countries including the Philippines but when it comes to sex you don't have to respect the bar girl or look at her as an equal. The whole purpose is to have sex or a fling but nothing else.

Yeah but it's not all about sex. I know many Filipinas here who married Japanese men or used to be married to them.

So they seem to have real relationships with them.

From what I've learned, yes Filipinas do like cash and gifts, and they prefer their guy to be generous with his cash. However, they also value kindness, sweetness, loyalty, and being romantic, not just money. If a guy is poor, he can still get a good Filipina if he has those other traits. Chemistry also plays a big factor too, not just money. There are many girls here I know who have dumped rich guys cause they didn't feel chemistry with him or didn't feel right about it. Spending lots of money on them didn't make a difference.

My experiences are limited to Japanese Americans and exchange students in Southern California, so they may not reflect reality in Japan.

Most Japanese college students don't drive or own cars, so it's not difficult to hit them up and offer to show them around, take them to the beach, etc.

When the girl is relatively young (18-22) , her parents will be very cautious with you. I've been grilled on many occasions and asked to bring the girl back by 10pm. But if the girl is in her late 20's or pushing 30, you can take her on a weekend trip to Vancouver or Catalina and her parents won't say anything.

Japanese parents get a little nervous when the daughter is pushing 30 and still unmarried. My Taiwanese friend here in Irvine was dating his wife years ago, and her parents came to meet him and offered $100k USD for down payment on a house if he married the daughter. They're now married with 2 kids.

My Cantonese accountant's son is also married to a Japanese girl. I recall hearing that the girl's parents were getting impatient and pushed pretty hard.

Japanese wives aren't low maintenance. The more traditional ones expect to be a house wife and prefers newly constructed homes and furnishings. They won't accept used furniture and will insist on buying everything new, unless if it was a nice antique. If you have kids, the wife will want to send them to expensive preschools.

Japanese women in Japan as a rule do not like Asian men; but middle aged Japanese men who like young ladies come to SE Asia since young Japanese girls will have nothing to do with a man over 27 who is not a Sony executive. Hence -a stream of frustrated overworked, over the hill male rejects out of Japan in search of young women.

Japanese women outside of Japan are a breed apart and many prefer to hang around Thai and other Asian people as they are often too reserved to associate with other groups. Emigration/expatriation make strange bedfellows ( pun intended).

I just wanted to mention that most of the Japanese i've met outside of Japan are pretty nice people to hang around. I'm asian too just as a reference point. I don't know about being in Japan in particular but I have a feeling some of the "Japanese dislike other asians" stuff is a bit overdone. I know some Asian-Americans who have spent time in Japan and they have not received overt social discrimination. They date Japanese girls, socialize, and have a network of friends just like expats in Thailand. I think this varies greatly according to the individual involved.

I remember back in the day I used to fight communism as a CIA agent stationed in Japan. Those were great days.
