I can assure you, that your observation is correct. Living standard in Thailand is just much better, however as a foreigner you will face some language issues, Thai is not an easy language. In Philippines you can much easier communicate with most people around you.

But otherwise, comparing smaller cities in the Philippines with similar places in Thailand, quality of housing, products available in department stores, power supply, water supply, food in small local restaurants - what is disturbing me everywhere in Philippines is cleanliness - for example the long distance bus needs about 8 hours to arrive in Bolinao from Manila, but it has no toilet, and all bus stops have restrooms in unbelievable dirty condition - never seen something like that in Thailand.

Philippines is indeed really dirty, plenty of garbage everywhere. I took a walk from Airport Terminal 3 in Manila to Pasay to the bus station... just terrible. People have no sense to clean up....

What is interesting - Thailand has everywhere a laundry, often also a coin laundry where you can wash your clothes yourself. You find a laundry within 5 minutes regardless where you are. - But try to find a laundry in many places in the Philippines...hopeless.
