Well, in the guy's defense, this woman didn't emerge out of obvious scam territory, like pay-per-letter dating websites. She was introduced to him by a friend and colleague of his (whom I hope he has taken to task for it). He was in-country and got to know her reasonably well before committing, and Ukraine real estate laws are apparently confusing. That said, I'm sure he is beating himself up quite enough, and doesn't need any help with it.
