Meaning of "Bespredel"

Post by ladislav »

Bespredel
[Bes-preh-DEll]

Bespredel is a Ukrainian word which, literally translated, means “without limit. It has many meanings depending on the context, but generally it signifies anarchy, havoc, lawlessness, chaotic and arbitrary behavior, uncontrolled freedom, hedonism, political disorder, violence, and complete lack of accountability.

I will use it in sentences:

“Yesterday a group of teenagers created a ‘bespredel’ at the “dacha( summer/vacation home) next door. They danced like crazy, smoked pot, had orgiastic sex and left the place in the same state Stalingrad was left after the German siege.

“In our country there reigns total ‘bespredel’. The police take bribes and do not punish offenders who pay them. The government does not care about the people and steals, there is infighting at the top and just complete chaos.

“You can do whatever you want here in this city. We have absolute ‘bespredel’ . See the opium poppies growing there? See that marijuana plant breaking through the asphalt and no one cares!? Yes, you can have a beer on the sidewalk. And yes, you can go into a park with your girlfriend, crawl into a bush and make a child. Yes, you can take your shirt off and just walk down the street. Why? Because we have complete and absolute bespredel here.

Ukraine is now going through a probably very brief period in which it has not yet joined the EU, the relationship with Russia is tense and shaky and no one tells this country what to do- it has no master, no imperial overlord. People there being Cossacks by nature are not used to authority and others controlling them. So, they engage in all sorts of hedonism with the police turning a blind eye on everything. Since the 2004, Ukraine has been enjoying totally unrestrained freedom in all aspects of its life, freedom that EU countries or the US can only envy. If you want to experience the American Wild West, you should try Ukraine. Everything goes there. Cops? What cops? Where are the cops?!

Complete bespredel!

Check out this video - in the US, this would never be shown.

If the song and video were the same only switch the genders to woman beating up a man and doing whatever the f**k she wanted, it would be absolutely OK in the USA. Girlllll empowerment usa style.

The United States is so hostile against men, but even worse so are the men. In Femerikka women hate men, men hate men, and men hate themselves. f**k the usa.

oh, BTW Ladislav thanks for the info about that Ukrainian term..

Cool old thread from "the wayback machine".
"Well actually, she's not REALLY my daughter. But she does like to call me Daddy... at certain moments..."
