I contacted some people who live in or visit the Lake Atitlán area, so that's where I'm going to go. Lake Atitlán is surrounded by towns inhabited by Mayan people. One possibility: I go to San Pedro, take classes at Casa Rosario, and stay with a family, picking up some Tz'utujil at the house. I already know Spanish, but maybe I could work on false friends, boating terms, computing terms, or plant names. I could also help the local schoolchildren learn English. Suggestions?
