The Sad Truth Why Living Abroad Is Better Than Living In America. Take Your Life Back

Hey everybody, welcome back. Um, you know, as my channel grows, I get to hear more stories of people who went and moved abroad, who escaped the rat race, um, you know, kind of left the kind of dystopia that America is turning into, or Canada is turning into, or the UK, or just the West in general, as we kind of are going through this decline.

And it really does fill my heart to see so many people who are just living life well now, who are happy. A couple people who have been in the Philippines for like 20 years or so, and, you know, there's no regrets. That's what they say, no regrets. And I understand this feeling, especially after coming back to the States.

Because, you know, I'm reminded of why I left. You know, and having the perspective of going somewhere else and coming back, you know, at being able to step outside, uh, and come back and just realize kind of how strange America is kind of off how off the tracks it's really gone. And I think if you have that feeling, if you have that compulsion to leave, I think you should really stop standing in your own [00:01:00] way.

Because I think that's what stands in people's way the most, especially, uh, because times are going to get tougher. Times are tough now, but times are only going to get tougher. And I think before we get buried too much, and that opportunity that we have to leave goes away, and we're stuck, you know, you have to really take advantage.

You know, you have to have the courage to just go. You know, make your plan, you know, just whatever you have to do. Execute. So if you're asking yourself, you know, should I leave? Is it time for me to leave? I'm just going to ask you to do a couple things. You know, the one, the first thing is look at the people around you.

Look at the people that you interact with every day. How do they look? Because when I go abroad, I see smiling faces. If I'm in Southeast Asia, I mean, you can say what you want about the guys who have moved there. The people that have moved there, guys or girls, doesn't matter. You'll never see so many people smiling morning, noon, night, sober.

Drunk, high, it doesn't matter, right? Uh, people are happy and there's genuine smiles too. Not just interacting with, you know, beautiful women and it's not just being courteous. It's not a fake smile, kind of like what we're used to, but compare that to being in America. Compare that to just going to the grocery store, going to Starbucks.

You don't see people genuinely happy. Maybe if they're kids, you see people happy because they don't know better. Even if they're in their early twenties, they still really don't know. You're not experienced life. You know, most people, they've just been to college and, and that's it. But when you're getting into your late twenties, especially your thirties and forties and fifties and sixties, you know, take a look at the people around you.

How beaten down do they look? It's just, there's an, there's a sense of depression that is seeped into people in America. And it's easy to see why, you know, people's jobs don't appreciate them. They don't pay enough. You know, it's so normal now for people to work two or three jobs just to survive. And every year it just gets worse.

So I guess the real question is, right, what does America do for you? What does the West do for you? If you have a passive income, if you've invested wisely, what Why not take the opportunity to just go, right? Not just let it be a dream anymore, but let it be a reality. Because what kind of future do you want?

Those years that I was living abroad, fantastic, right? Even the bad days are better than some of the best days in America. Because at least you're surrounded by people who have a kind of a sense of joy, a sense of appreciation of life, a sense of appreciation of what they have. That's something that we lack here.

People here are children, right? People in their 20s and 30s, even some people in their 40s, who just spend all their day on TikTok. You listen to what they say. You listen to the affectations in their voice, how they talk. They might as well be teenagers. The words that they use, they might as well be teenagers.

So is this fulfilling to you? Because it doesn't fulfill me. Coming back here, listen, I'm here to [00:04:00] invest. I'm here for 21 more months, 23 more months. That's it. The wife, she's from Turkey. We're bouncing out of here. We're getting our properties, we're getting set up. And then we're getting out of here. And you can make, and you can say, Oh, you know, well, because this guy got elected, everything's going to change now.

That's, that's not reality. That's not reality because this isn't a kingdom one man doesn't run the show. If you know anything about the housing market, you know that things are going to get real bad. Things are going to get real bad. If you're a property owner, if you have these assets, if you parked your money into real estate, then yeah, guess what?

You're going to be great. If you're not in, if you're still on the sidelines, it's going to get bad. You're going to get locked out of house. But that's for another video. But going back, when I remember people that I've met throughout the years abroad, especially older people, because in America, we don't respect the elderly.

It's not something we have, but when you go to these kind of traditional cultures, these traditional countries, [00:05:00] and you can say that they're not traditional because they have cell phones because they have social media. And of course it's not going to be as traditional as maybe you want it to be. It's not the 1950s, but it's miles away.

from what we go through here, from what we experience. And if you're older, you know, you get respect simply because of your age. And that may sound ridiculous. That may sound ridiculous to you. And if it, and honestly, that's the problem. If that sounds ridiculous to you, that's the problem, right? Because a lot of people have been through a lot in life and you discount it just because their age, because, you know, you think that they're irrelevant.

But knowledge is never irrelevant. That's why a lot of these older people are going to be in a much better situation than you are down the road. I love old people. Old people are great. As long as they're not acting like kids because you get that too. But serious old people who have like grandkids, great grandkids, there are people worth listening to.

And these people get respect and they get listened to when they go to countries like Thailand, when they go to countries like the Philippines, right? And East, Eastern Europe, South America. I mean, listen, anywhere that's not the West, essentially, you'll get more respect off the bat just because of your age, but, and that's not just if you're old, even if you're younger, as long as you're doing the work that you're supposed to do.

You'll still get respect as long as you're not acting like a child. Because everyone else in the world is struggling and they don't have time for people who act like children. So it's easy to be motivated in these places because in America it's hard, it's easy to lose that motivation. Because every step you take forward, it, I mean, it's like you're running up a sandy hill.

I was in the Marines, we used to run up this sandy hill in 29 Palms called, uh, Sugar Cookie. And every step you took, I swear, you went back to. And it felt like you were climbing that thing for like 20, 30 minutes, and it wasn't that long. But I mean, he just killed you, sucked the life out of you. And you know, that's what it feels like to me.

For a lot of Americans, no matter what they do, right? It just, it's just not gonna work out. And it's because it's not supposed to work out. They need workers. They need people that they can extract profit from. You're not going to live the Instagram life. You're not going to have, you know, the crazy life that you want here, but you can have it somewhere else.

You can, I've done it. You can too. I'm not selling anything. That's not what this is. This is just reality. Your money is worth more somewhere else. Do the things you need to do so that you have passive income that you have, or just save up because spending a month, Spending a couple months, spending a year, isn't as expensive as you think it is.

You know, spending that time in these places isn't as expensive as you think it is. Trust me, I'll do a video on that. Um, you don't need much at all. You know, having this life that you want is attainable if you've done the work, right? If you're 18 years old and you're like, oh, I want all this. Yeah, well, you know, [00:08:00] pay into the system a little bit.

You know, I recommend going in the military. Go in the military. It's great. You know, have your college paid for, um, you know, VA benefits are great, you know, barring that, you know, do a trade, but always invest. And I think that one of the greatest shames is that, you know, we weren't taught any kind of financial knowledge growing up in schools because they do teach that in other countries because resources are limited, but we are a debt society.

So escape that because day to day life in America is getting so expensive. That people are going into debt just to live, just to make rent, just to feed themselves. How sad is that? How sad is that to happen in a first world country? And because we know it's going to get worse, we have to be proactive. And that's what you have to do.

You have to go somewhere else. You want to do it, so do it. Don't be the last person on a sinking ship. I love this country. I served my country. Right? But I [00:09:00] also see where it's going. I also see that the country that I grew up in no longer exists. And it is what it is. But that's not the end for me and that's not the end for my family.

We'll go and make our life somewhere else if that's what we have to do. And the way that America looks now, unless something crazy happens and it all turns around, which is sadly very unlikely, That's what we're going to be forced to do is go somewhere else. And I'm not alone in the sentiment. A lot of people, if you're watching this video, you're probably agreeing with me.

You probably think the exact same thing. And I'm just saying you can do it and it doesn't cost a lot and you can have a great life. Is it going to cost 500, 600 a month? No, it costs more than that. I'm sorry. The world is going to get more expensive. And if you want to have a good life, You know, you got to do a little bit better than that.

But like I said, It doesn't have to be forever. You can go for a couple years. There's a lot of people in the comment section talking about like, you know, they spend [00:10:00] six months in the Philippines and six months in America, six months in Thailand, six months in America. That's not a bad deal. That's not a bad deal.

If that's what you can afford, that's a great thing. That's a great thing. Have two lives. Why not? Because that's better than living in a country that's nothing but a bucket of crabs. You know, because every time you talk about how you want to leave, every time you talk about, you know, your dream of being somewhere else, accusations come next.

Oh, well, why do you want to go there? You must be a creep. Or tell you that you're running away from your problems. And I say, screw these people. I say, take your life back, you know, because it's yours. It's your choice. It's your decision. You know, if I can give you any advice, it's to get your passport. It takes a while to get.

While you have the motivation, make yourself have the motivation, get your passport, get your ticket, and go. Screw what anyone says. Live your life. Follow your dream. You have one life. You have one life. And [00:11:00] like I said, when you get to these places, you're going to realize how happy people are. There's a, there's like a stereotype of like the goofy American, right?

Americans are so happy when they're other places. They're always smiling, you know, the big gullible doofuses. And you know why? It's because they're away from America. They're away from the place that is just crushing them. And you'll notice that once you leave, you'll notice that you're like, look how happy everyone is.

And they're, they're, and they're probably no different than you, right? If you're on social security, if you're on disability, there's a lot of people in Southeast Asia, uh, who, who are making the same money you are. Guess what? They're happy every day. You know, of course you'll miss home. Sometimes you can come back and visit, but the smiles, right?

Big smiles that you can tell, like, you know, this, and the more you talk to them, you realize, yeah, like, you know, They made the right choice. There's nothing wrong with that. It's not just single men doing it, right? And that's the stereotype. There are families, [00:12:00] especially more and more. Just look on YouTube, you're starting to see families that are moving abroad, right?

Families that are moving to Vietnam, Costa Rica, which is getting more expensive, Mexico, which is getting more expensive, you know, Japan. You know, there's plenty of countries out there that have a first world living. at a discounted price. And I think that's what we have to do if we really want to survive and if we really want to survive and be happy Right because success is being happy One of the comments said that being successful is just being in a place where financially you can be satisfied All right, I agree with that and it doesn't take much A lot of these places you only need one two thousand dollars If you have three or four thousand dollars a month, you can live super well.

Now listen, if you're staying in an Airbnb, that'll eat away at it because Airbnb is theft, essentially, but you can do it. And think of all the things that you won't have to deal with anymore. Think of all the negativity from people, right? Think of all the negativity from people. Guess what? You're probably not going to watch the news anymore.

So the constant paranoia [00:13:00] and, you know, fear mongering that comes from that is not going to be something that you have to deal with anymore. Right? These burdens are lifted off your shoulders and a life without burdens is a life of freedom. And this is a kind of freedom that's real. If this is the land of the free, I say that's a lie.

At one point it might have been the land of the free, but never in my lifetime and certainly not now. And certainly not what I see in the future. Real freedom is life without burden. And you're always going to have burden to a degree, but that burden should be what you put on yourself. Not by a government, because this is oppression.

But I mean, everything will change. And no matter what people say about your dream of moving abroad, about your dream of going somewhere else, you know, and they may belittle you, and they may say things that are downright liable, but you know what? You're better than that. You deserve these things. You're not garbage.

Look at everything that you've been through to this point now. If you're older, you've probably been through several recessions. You know, all [00:14:00] these wars, pandemic, and living in one of the most increasingly expensive places on the planet. If you break away from that, imagine how great that would feel.

Imagine how you'd be able to take your life back, right? I understand this. I am so much healthier now than I was, right? I'm still trying to quit a couple things, right? And smoke every now and then. But I mean, I don't drink anymore. I was a big drinker, right? I used to smoke in another way. Don't do that anymore.

I don't need to. Right? I found happiness in a different way. I found true happiness. And coming back to America now, knowing what that is, that's something that I expect for myself. And I expect that for my countrymen. And that's why I say to you, Find your happiness no matter where it's at. It doesn't have to be in America.

Go live abroad. Even if it's just a long visit, a long vacation, go live abroad and understand what is possible. Understand what's possible for you. But I [00:15:00] guarantee you, you're not going to regret going. And if you're there long enough, you're going to notice that you're changing as well. Your health is changing.

Your fitness is changing. You know, your opinion of yourself, your self esteem is changing. Traveling has changed me so much. And this isn't in a conceited way. And if you take it, and if you take it that way, then this is some kind of insecurity on your end, because certainly it's not on mine. But everything's different.

And take away the depressing backdrop of, you know, a former empire that's crumbling into a dystopia. You'll enjoy so much the food, you know, a better fitness, better health, you know. The people treat you better, just generally. People are nice, they smile, they say hello, they wave, and you know what, they mean it.

It's not any kind of obligation. Dating? Dating's fantastic. Let me tell you, I found an amazing woman, and we want the same things out of life. We really do, and we're pursuing that together, [00:16:00] and we're gonna pursue that here, and we're gonna leave again. The women are completely different and the men are different as well.

You know, we always, on social media, it's always talking about how men are leaving, you know, to find better women, but there's also women leaving to find better men because men aren't the, the, just the sole victims and women aren't the sole victims. Our culture is predatory. And those who realize that, you know, they, they want it.

They, they don't want that, you know, they'll go find that somewhere else. So dating pretty much anywhere else outside the West is great. It's great. And if you're older, it doesn't really matter either because people will see you for more than just your age. People will see you for more than just your money.

And of course money is a component because a lot of these places, you know, there's no social safety net. Fam that's why family is so important because there's no social safety net. There's no social security coming at a certain age. If you don't have family, you know, you'll be homeless. It'll be rough.

But beyond that, I mean, it's just the experience. [00:17:00] You'll live a dream that other people only dream of. It'll become your reality. You know, I'll talk to people who are far more wealthy than I am, and they'll give me a bunch of what ifs. You know, I wish I would have done this. I wish I would have done that.

And it's a shame because you could have, you could have, and you still can. And so I say, go as long as you're healthy, as long as you can move around, go. So that's why I say to end this, live the dream that they say that you can't, because you can. And you're not going to regret it. Just look at the comment sections in my videos.

It's not filled with people who regret leaving America. It's filled with people who who are filled with hope. It's filled with people who, who the regret is the complete opposite reaction, right? And this is after years of digesting a new life abroad. So again, live the dream they say you can't and move abroad and take your life back because the choice, the decision is on you.

Again, this is Large Man Abroad. Like and subscribe and thanks for stopping by.

I'll never forget when my friend who went to an Ivy League school told me, "America is only good IF you're in the top 20%".

Your money is worth more somewhere else.
Most important point for Americans: USA is high wage but also high cost.
