There are women and women. The 50-yo once or twice divorced roastie with a stable job (or even pension) and nothing to lose will certainly go, or tempted to go, to Africa or the Caribbeans for the big bamboo. Young, attractive women with ambitions, often backed by a career of their own, will obviously look to date up or marry up. This, regardless of whether they're from Rome or New York. It's kinda obvious.
Having said that, I think men can also be discerning. When I was living in London, the whole place was so starved of young, good looking and genuinely nice women that I heard of bankers and hedge fund managers feeling like f***ing lottery winners for being able to date someone fresh off the boat from Poland, Albania or Bulgaria, working at a bakery shop. These kind or rich and powerful men DO NOT SEEK a woman who wants power, or prestige. They not those are ticking timebombs and prefer a simple-minded, cute girl who can make them feel comfortable in their own shoes.
