My observation on the US is similar to what many others have said on this site: it is a lot more racist than Americans like to believe.
Intelligent educated people say they are not racist but in my observation as moment a person speaks with an accent something clicks in the back of American's minds. It's goes something like "oh that person is not 'one of us', that person is from a third world country, they are a retard who can't even speak English properly, they must have lower intelligence, they are probably a terrorist, or used to work in a rice field, and have backward savage ways from their 3rd world country homeland". LOL
I'm a white guy but most of my friends are from Asia, Brazil, China, India, everywhere. I see it happen in the office all the time. The person who has the best idea doesn't get listened to...cause the dude is from India. It's so obvious, but most Americans aren't even aware they are doing it.

Totally true, but also depends on the kind of accent- they do look down on accents with the exception being British colonial accents or a French accent or Scandinavian or Einsteinish- German accent. Then they get listened to with fascination. Look with what great admiration and love Americans accept Aussies and NZers and Canadians!Intelligent educated people say they are not racist but in my observation as moment a person speaks with an accent something clicks in the back of American's minds. The sad thing, though is that there is no place to run away from this problem- where is one to go( except back home)? The Anglo countries still hire people no matter what race.
Hard to get jobs anywhere else- who would still hire so many foreigners at a decent ( for them) pay? Everywhere else you go either they are friendly and nice, but do not have jobs for non citizens. Or if they do, the salaries are pathetic. But mostly, no jobs for foreigners. Latin Americans for example are very friendly and polite and accepting socially but when it comes to sharing jobs with you, they turn into devils.
Drop that accent! That is the only way out of this predicament.
But otoh, having said all of the above, what about all those people from India and China and Russia who became billionaires in the USA through the Internet- the founders of Yahoo, Google, Intel, etc.? They did it.
A brain is a terrible thing to wash!

You are right on the US having a tremendous economic opportunity regardless of your race. Probably the best place in the world to make money but at the same time I feel like a loner. This is why I am planning on becoming financially independent asap and build a web business. The probably w/ the US for us asaisn is we are never accepted as americans and we will always feel distant. It doesnt matter whether you were born and raised in the states or not, you are still viewed as just asian.

jamesfall007 americans can be mean & close-minded sometimes,... it's just their culture; it's not only asians, they treat eachother unjustly too. Only the ones who get treated badly by their own realise this injustice & don't part-take in it.
The British can be very racist too but they don't really show it.

True. Thank you for posting. This is a tough society to live in - for all of us.Renata wrote:jamesfall007 americans can be mean & close-minded sometimes,... it's just their culture; it's not only asians, they treat eachother unjustly too. The USA, Canada, UK, etc. are all racist places.
The difference between them and other places is that racism is illegal in them and exists primarily on a social- not professional- level. So, people try to get away with some racism but generally, the worst that can happen is that they will work with you but not play with you.
In most other countries around the world, racism is not illegal. What's more, they do not allow other races into their countries. Except as money spending tourists- they love those. And foreigners have tough times getting work visas there. But they are charming people socially. You go there as a tourist- lovely places, great smiling people- just keep spending your money and they will love you.
Now, you ask them for help. Just try. Ask them how you can find work and get a visa to live there. Their facial expressions will change and they will look like ogres or demons now.
Working visas- tough like hell. All the jobs, professions are for local citizens. And even if you ever try to become a citizen and succeed, there are now laws in place against naturalized citizens.
Now, the US, the UK, etc have foreign born citizens in the gov't running whole departments. You have foreign born secretaries of State. In Britain they allowed Muslim Indians to be MPs once they are British citizens.
All the racism is mostly social, not professional.
In non Anglo countries, all the racism is professional/formal and not social.
In America, there are lots of people/organizations who are very helpful. Banks give credit to non citizens! Amazing! People who are not citizens get credit cards and loans to buy houses. You try getting a bank loan in a foreign country as an American. They will tell you where to go. Like get the h*ll out of the bank and don't let the door smack you in the a**.
Do your practical things in the USA/Japan + oil Arab countries. Live your social life in 3d world countries which are cheap and where people are happy to see you and your money and where girls are smiling wide smiles at you, Mister Dollar.

That's right. And don't forget education- it is so easy to go to school in the US. So many states and you can get MAs in a very short time. And they give you Pell grants and student loans. Many people complain about loans but if you are smart and you study for a very specific professions which enable you to make big money, these are big help.
I attribute a large chunk of my success to credit and loans which I was able to get in the USA. You leverage it properly and you win all the time!
But if you want to go to another country and ask for grants, scholarships and student loans, you will get a kick in the a** so big, you'll be flying across the street!
And the US passport- visa free travel, and it is so nice to be an American citizen in so many countries. Good teaching jobs just for you. Respect. Girls lining up to date you! Beautiful!
Just not at home.
Your question: for an Asian man?
E. Euros- go to the Baltics - Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia.
Latinas- Brazil and Mexico.

Sounds more like "where people are happy to see you as long as you have money".
Socially charming ... as long as you're paying.
One can save the travel time and just find a clique of parasites in the bad old USSA.

I'm usually wary of the things you post, because they seem blinded with anger/spite...but I actually have to agree with you on this one. It coincides with what my experiences are like in the US.lone_yakuza wrote:Disagree. Asian Americans/East Asian males are protected by American law in the public and generally finding state jobs is not an issue, but those are usually shitty and low-paying. However, socially and in the private sector and in most corporations, they despise Asian males. They will of course hire many Asian females because there are always many horny white guys who are near the top or at the top who want to see Asian female secretaries suck their dicks in the office.ladislav wrote:The USA, Canada, UK, etc. are all racist places.

Trust me. Most white men's lives revolve around sex. Even in the office.
East Asian males, however, have a hard time getting jobs in the private sector, mainly because of networking issues, being viewed as competition, being viewed as the enemy, and the networking issue stems from the fact that most of us are ostracized or bullied from high school to college, and even after. So you hear many stories about a glass ceiling for East Asian American Males because most of us do not have many connections and the few we do have are extremely superficial and unhelpful.
That is also why many people go the doctor/scientist/engineer route, because they know in those fields, it is credentials and ability that matter more than social connections or likability, which is usually based on race/sex, and if you are the East Asian male combination, you are universally despised.
In California, where Asians can network with other Asians or in certain places in Seattle, Asians tend not to have as many issues because we often end up working for an Asian boss who likes us for who we are and does not discriminate against us for being East Asian males. Also many end up working for international companies where being an East Asian male is not considered "bad for public relations" or "bad for the company culture" or "bad for the company image."
So America is definitely not the place for Asians who are not smart enough to get advanced degrees or if they are not likable or if they dislike the fakeness and bullshit of networking and "social circles"
