My friends who just visited India says the country is racist

She's Black and her friend is Korean, and they said when they visited the country--the Indians were very racist towards them. I've heard from other people that Indians are pretty racist as well. Here's some videos I'm posting that seem to validate their statements about India:

I think it varies when you're talking about Indian-Americans. A lot of them are model minority conformists with issues that are more similar to the ones that Asian-Americans face. I dated a Sikh Indian girl and she was cool and so were her parents. It really depends on the sub-ethnic or religious group they are coming from. Sikhs are known for doing their own thing apart from the rest of Indian culture and you'll find a lot of them in the big cities. Hindu or Muslim indians on the other hand..are very conformist and maintain standard caste and racial prejudices.

Indians i've met abroad have for the most part been douchebags but these were always middle aged single male traveler Indians grouped together in sweaty smelly packs of repressed men who treated the locals and others around them with disrespect and disdain.

No, Indians--like other colonized countries-worship Whites, but treat non-Whites with disdain...Trust me, Ladislav, a lot of Indians don't like Black and Oriental people. An Indian colleague in my last job even acknowledged this to be true. And in the U.S., certainly, Indian Americans are known to be quite racist. I've gotten into fights with Indians growing up, calling Asians nasty names and such...

One thing you have to keep in mind about a lot of fob Indians is that they also come into direct competition with asians in model minority occupations like IT, engineering, medical fields, etc.. There was a situation awhile back where some asian was constantly denied promotions and basically bullied by Indian co-workers at a hospital. He went postal and shot a couple of them at their home. If someone can pull up the details of this situation it would be great. I think it happened a few years ago.

This Indian motel manager calling Tom Leykis to complain about American black people is side splittingly funny. It was so popular that the Tom Leykis show uses the line the caller says: "drug dealing, hookers and loud music" at the beginning of the show.

This is a surprise, but it shouldnt be. Other sources show how India is one of the most mangina-fied countries in the world. They have a caste system, and they were dominated by the British for a long time. Why wouldnt they have more social ills?

Meanwhile, because Americans have more sexual partners than they do over there, their moral opinion of Americans is low.

Unfortunately I think people are people. Expect most people to act as if they belong to the lowest common denominator of their society. You won't be disappointed this way at least.


And despite what BoycottAmericanWomen would have us believe, I dont think Indian women (hyphenated or otherwise) are all that great. They seem to be inherently feminist, bossy and fit in with American women with ease once they get here (like long lost feminist sisters). Their accents are also far from romantic.

This conflict was briefly mentioned in the movie, "The Ghost and the Darkness" ( per Wikipedia "a 1996 historical adventure horror film starring Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer set in Africa at the end of the 19th century").

BTW, re Gandhi specifically, I find it hilarious that Gandhi's first civil rights effort (in South Africa) was because he didn't want to ride in the back of the train with Blacks.

He was a clever and effective nationalist/racialist rebel, but certainly not the Mother-Theresa type that he is portrayed as.
