What to Expect in Dating in Philippines

I was talking with my Filipina living in Manila. She is young and easily considered top 15%. It is not unbelievable that she has been offered to "walk" meaning to sleep with politicians and businessmen, but she declines it for moral reasons.

Dating Sites

These girls are mostly hookers, provincial types, and single mothers.

The hookers will be found in bars. The hookers are PROs meaning they are actively looking for johns online and offline. Mostly they are motivated by greed and a desire to keep their current lifestyle. My Filipina complained that sometimes these girls will steal her facebook pictures to hook a foreigner.

The girls from the provinces are actively looking to improve their lives. They come from environments where marrying a foreigner becomes one of the few viable options. These girls will have good intentions. They are quite provincial in their thinking so keep that in mind.

The single mothers are there because it is close to impossible to find a man after they bear a child. They are also well intention ed but it does come with a baggage.

Filipina Girls in the City

They are what I consider normal girls. Just the day to day chick stuck in the mix of living in the city.

The Pretty Ones.

The pretty ones like my Filipina will have a leg up in the world. They get good source of income, like dancing in the casino or secretarial positions to pay for their studies,. They will mostly be exposed to other hookers, but it doesn't mean she becomes one herself -- this is all down to their internal moral compass. They will usually be pursued by local older men with money with offers such as 100k ($2.5k) a night, or a condominium. The girl might get blinded by the cash and go this route but it leads to emptiness and a sense of loss of worth. They soon become accustomed to luxury so when their sponsors leave them, they search for another john to keep them in check.


The Foreigner Effect

White men are considered "rich". Expect that people will automatically assign you as rich if you are white. The thing about hooking up for white guys is that Filipinas, like my Filipina, gets a bad image when seen with a foreigner. This is true. Filipinos will be quick to judge a girl when she is seen with a white man. When some white guys tried making a move to my Filipina under the pretense of a job, she was quick to shoot them down and declined the taxi money (lol). As much as possible, they will end up trying to avoid the white guy especially when they are at their prettiest. The normal Filipinas also think white men are too direct in their dealings.

The Foreigner Effect (for minorities)

Those who otherwise avoid white foreign men, are open to other men, especially Asian men. These girls get the advantage of having a foreigner men but do not get the negative image of going out with a white man. The reality is that local Filipino men will trump all others in the eyes of a normal cut-and-dry traditional Filipina. I believe these girls are brought up to be not as materialistic as other girls, and will choose a local simple life without well-pocketed foreigners. Having said that, Asian men who date in this environment will come directly under local Filipino in their hierarchy or equal if they are staying. Black men or Latin, im not too sure about.

It doesn't make much sense for them to lie about sleeping with middle to upper middle filipinas while also admitting to having limited success with Thai women.

Good article. That guy must have married a provincial girl, which I think is cool if that is what you want.

Someone from the countryside (known as the 'province' there) - possibly with a farming background - who had some city experience but did not have a lot of extra time to watch MTV and U.S. television shows on satellite and clone the worst characteristics of U.S. women while thinking that's the way U.S. men like women to be. My best candidates would be westernized to a point by having slight contact with city retail stores, malls, magazines, books, and localized TV while visiting friends or family but not "ruined" by the media that has "ruined" women in the U.S. (this is my opinion and the opinion of every man I've met who has an Asian wife).

Basically go to the deepest most dangerous province to find your Filipina wife. Then bring her back to the land of consumerism. Let's see what happens!!

Don't know why guys are so obsessed with these upper class Thai girls. Having seen them irl I don't rate them that much. Most wear too much makeup and are ultra-high maintenance. They're also outclassed by average women from mainland China.

Thailand is pretty ruined as finding a wife goes. Finding a girlfriend, well it's OK for that. Finding good girls here, well that's pretty tough. They don't often speak English. I guess country girls could be OK but the cultural gulf is just too great.

I think the Philippines would be more fun than Thailand these days. Just got back from a Soi Cowboy gogo bar, some of the the girls were hot but they were just going through the motions and not really entertaining us punters at all. I was just thinking of how much hotter the girls would have been if the place was in Shanghai or Shenzhen.

I think there is a big dilemma in making a choice of what kind of Filipina to look for, especially if one is interested in marriage. For me, I know I could never marry a girl who is not a virgin. I also like simple girls. How pretty she is doesn't really matter to me as much. I'm not very attractive, so I can't justify to myself rejecting a girl based on looks.

I'm in an LDR with a Filipina right now, and she is not a virgin, but so far she has been honest with me and we've video-chatted on Skype a lot, so I know she is legit. I would never bring a foreign wife back home. I'm not the kind of guy who can keep a woman easily in my own culture, so for me it is an absolutely necessity that I stay in the Philippines or where ever if I do find a girl I can marry.

Middle class is the best demographic in Thailand. Upper class tends to be aloof or unavailable to most foreigners or like you said high maintenance. A Thai friend of mine dated an upper class girl for a long while and she was a total bitch but looked like a model. He eventually broke up with her after much encouragement from all his friends and dated a mixed race (half thai half white) upper class girl who he eventually married.

I tend to agree with you on the wife part. I have major doubts about the capacity of most Thai women to function as productive mothers. I have never been impressed with the quality or general intelligence of the kids that come from these foreigner/thai pairings. They would be on the lower end of the academic and intellect curve when compared with even average asian-american kids.

Hmm..I disagree. Then again I never attracted the whores or gold diggers because i'm not an obvious farang and those types avoid me. Most girls I talked with on TLL were normal and I even dated a few.

Working wages are pathetic in Thailand and most Thais live hand to mouth but you have to take into consideration a lot of Thais own family plots up country or in different parts of Thailand. So even if things got bad they could just go live there. Plus there's often a big gap between what lower end office and service workers make and what management makes. Corruption creates a very top down heavy system.



I don't want to hijack mguy's thread though. I think Filipinos may still offer the best opportunity for foreigners to find an english speaking asian wife. I think Filipinos integrate well in the west but they westernize too easily and tend to pick up all the bad habits. Although I have met very sweet Filipinas even in CA.

The easiest lay I ever got was with a cute, slender F.O.B. Filipina 6.5. Met her for coffee off Plentyoffish one afternoon. After maybe 15 minutes of conversation, I suggested we go watch a movie.
