In Iran the higher economic classes have always despised islam and followed western sexual mores.this isn't new.they Backed the shah,and during his days Iran was like the Thailand of the middle east.

I don't think much will change,drug use,promiscuity and partying are quiet tolerated in Iran as long as its kept among the upper classes that live in certain areas of northern Tehran.

the middle and lower classes are and always have been conservative and the higher class has always been closet agnostics and support the USA/Israel and do drugs,have sex etc both classes hate each other and are like night and day.

what I'm basically saying is that this isnt something new or unknown to people who visited Iran.Expat Iranians and upper class are secular,westernized and their promiscuity and shallowness would make the average hedonistic westerner look like an Angel.

I doubt that the middle or lower classes aka the majority are affected by these social Trends.nor are rural dwellers.

exactely this has been happening since the shah's days.its only limited to a certain class though.the average middle and lower class iranian or rural farmer isn't having premarital sex.

people have to also remember Iran is so diverse.some cities are more liberal than others,some regions are more liberal than others.Shiraz is very liberal while Mashhad is very conservative for example.Yazd is very conservative.qom is super conservative.in fact most states are very conservative except Isfahan,northern Tehran,and Shiraz.and even isfahan and Shiraz's ''liberalism''are just a more''moderate''way of being conservative in a european's eyes.

South tehran is conservative and gets called Backward alot by the snobby promiscouis Northern Tehran socialites.

No different than differing regions in America,or Japan.
