I'm guessing this results from a combination of too much beer, poor diet, gambling, playing sports, watching porn, watching TV, consumerism, abusive women and a lousy education system.

And that's after dumbing the test down around 1995 and adding 50 points to the verbal score to get the average score back to 500. Scores had been falling precipitously since 1963. Looks like they're falling again. Anyone who has ever had to grade the written work of college students can confirm the trend.

My last history professor once asked our small class of 4th and 5th year students and why his 1st year student class papers were so atrocious. He privately told us that half of them cheated and the rest could not write correctly. He asked us what was the difference between us and them, even though our ages were not much, difference wise. He said that was the worse group of 1st year students he had ever seen before and it made no sense to him.
