A comparison of Elliot Rodger vs Winston Wu
I'm not being facetious or trying to slander Winston in any way but I think this is a worthwhile topic to address. There are undeniable similarities between Winston and the recent Santa Barbara killer Elliot Rodger. I said several years ago that I thought Winston had narcissistic personality disorder just like elliot Rodger. I'm not implying that Winston is a psychopath because based on his forum history he's much too lazy and obssessed with material comfort to act out but the personality issues are very similar.
Here are some glaring simlarities
1. Elliot Rodger, like Winston used his real name everywhere on the internet. - There was a degree of narcissism and "fame-seeking" behavior which caused Rodger to look for validation on the internet.
2. Winston was ridiculed as a child and traumatized. Elliot Rodger was similarly traumatized as a youth by bullies.
3. Winston had problems relating to women or getting to know women like ER.
4. Winston insists he is a good looking man and a superior thinker to all the lesser men. Elliot Rodger had similar delusions of grandeur.
5. Winston was coddled as an only child from an overbearing asian mother.
What do you all think?
Btw Winston please don't go crazy, ok?

Yes, there's indeed a lot of superficial similarities. I would say they are even uncanny. So I can understand how you came up with this thread.
The Rodger character is quite interesting. He speaks like a gentleman using perfect polite prose, never cursing in spite of his deep rage. Hes totally composed and smooth in his vids. Even I can relate to him on many levels. I went through much of what he he's suffered, though not to the a bsolute degree. Heck he even listens to 80s music for goodness sakes and when you watch his Youtubes, in most, he seems rather tame and sympathetic. Even the latest ones with threats seem just like talk (except the very last one). I know some of it has to do with parents and peers being clueless as to what it's like to suffer as a longer in America. Falcon, it doesn't have to be SoCal or his generation. That stuff has been happening to countless loner oddball guys all over the USA for a long time.
But, I've gotten to know Winston over the months and years to a fair degree. I believe deep down, he has a conscience and is incapable of doing things beyond a certain degree. Rodger, at the core, it seems was a pure narcissist. Perhaps much of it was due to circumstances but in the end, he became a monster as far as I can see. I don't believe Winston is anything like that. He may not be a good father. But most of us here probably have a lot we are not proud of morally in our own individual histories. The Santa Barbara kid is in a whole different league. Does anyone really disagree with me on this?

Yes, Winston is tempermental when he is challenged in any way.Falcon wrote:Don't forget the temper tantrums.
A few more similarities:
Winston is highly emotional and depressive.
Winston is obssessed with long nature hikes and "contemplation" while alone in the woods.
Winston is highly judgmental and critical of others and will lash out if criticized himself.
Winston is a firm believer in conspiracies or indulges in persecution complex behavior beyond normal explanations.
Winston has had several antagonistic run ins with various individuals as an adult.

I don't believe Winston is violent or a psychopath either but he has a very similar disorder as Elliot Rodger but just doesn't have the exact same psychological modality. I think Winston can be categorized as having NPD though. I said this years ago and I stand by it. He exhibits all the obvious attributes. What's somewhat disconcerting is that Winston does have a bit of a flat affect in his voice when he's doing videos. It's not severe but it I do detect a hint of it. That's aspie or schizo affective tonality.Rock wrote:Yes, there's indeed a lot of superficial similarities. I would say they are even uncanny. So I can understand how you came up with this thread.

Rock, his growing up in an upper-class Hollywood family was one major factor. His family definitely would have also shared some of his views about their special position in society. This kid was incredibly sheltered in various ways.
He obviously got those actor and scriptwriting genes from his dad. The way he can talk, pose in front of the camera, and write up elaborate stories and plans, isn't something that everyone can do.

Don't worry Repatriate. Winston's rage results from sudden emotional impulses, like a little kid who says he'll do X and Y when suddenly enraged, but forgets about it after mommy gives him his favorite carbs again.
It never festers for a long time and can never last for extended periods of time. That's not Elliot.
Winston does not think about revenge against society or let grudges fester in him for years to the point where he radically changes as a person. Winston lets steam off easily, and often on this site. That keeps him very, very far from ever getting to the point where Elliot got.
There are some similarities, but then I also see many fundamental polar opposites between the two.

First of all, Win has a range of emotional responses from needy/depressed to angry/disappointed.
Next, he did go see h@es instead of shooting up a crowd of ppl.
As for narcissism and so forth ... well guess what? That's American society for you, starting from John Wayne, the over the top tough guy prototype, to the Kardashian/Hilton bimbo trains of today.
Thus, at best, he's in the motif of ER but nowhere close to ER's level of depravity.
And everyone I know, has long nature walks to help unwind, from time to time. The duration and length of them, however, are individual in scope. If Win or ER had a monopoly on that, then we're really facing the end of days on this earth.

Beware of long term engagements with AWs, you may find yourself in a coffin.

BTW, despite settling down with an AW, myself, the warning is still in effect.

This thread is starting to scare me. I hope Winston never goes crazy like Elliot Rodgers did. Winston, would you be opposed to providing an emergency contact number of one or both of your parents in case some "situation" were to arise? Maybe provide us with a warning first, a trigger word of some type?
It would be prudent to bequeath your website in a will to a responsible successor too. Maybe zboy or someone ?

Elliot, on the other hand, was living in fantasy chick flicks like 'Titanic', instead of going to Angeles City and such

Seriously, if I meet a young guy nowadays, and don't hear that his favorites movies are in the category of 'The Good, The Bad, & the Ugly', 'Terminator', 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', etc, I'll be a bit concerned

A few other similarities:
Winston internalizes every slight against him and takes it personally and holds immense grudges over small issues.
Winston has a lucid emotional memory of small details about his childhood and the places he's been. This kind of vivid recall being able to feel every emotion in the past is what a lot of schizos and people diagnosed on the autism spectrum can do.
Winston is very dogmatic about his opinions. He will argue just to prove he's right when he's wrong about something. Then when you argue with him he starts to take offense and internalizes it as a slight.
Winston has really odd quirks and mannerisms. Some of which can be seen in videos but some of it is related to me second hand by others who have met him before.
Winston seems to lack certain social tact. He will behave in a way in public that most people would find embarrassing but he calls it being gregarious or open. This lack of understanding on how awkward certain social actions are is very much an issue people with personality disorders have.
