Best Place to Go to Escape Social Marxism?
Here is the thing: I am a libertarian who supports people's right to die, to privately marry whomever you want (without government license), speak whatever you so please without FCC approval, ingest whatever you so please, conduct your fiscal matters without government intervention, have guns, engage in whatever social lifestyle you want as it does not hurt anyone, etc. . But there have been a few problems with America. I am 20, but I feel like an old soul as some have pointed out ( I am a Deist, and am not big on spiritualism). Some times I feel like I belong in the classical liberal era, but obviously we are not going back to that. Any ways, further I feel really social conservative even though I am rather tolerant. I am tired of all the cultural BS, even though I am tolerant. The Ice Bucket Challenge, all the gay celebrities coming out being news, intolerant liberals (mention polygamy seriously and they would flip), children not being able to play for fear of the plague and then some (81% of people in one poll said parents who don't watch children up to the age of 12 should be arrested for not keeping an eye on them while they play), people's hatred for free markets, the general pussification of the nation's youth by public education (I was home educated most of my life), and the general linear thinking of the American populace (Either A is right, and if not, B is right by default). Here are a few countries I am considering: Philippines, Colombia, Paraguay, Chile (I like the idea of a free market mecca, but worried about Bacchet), Panama, Argentina, and Mexico. Any input? I am trying to narrow it down. and I am going to aim for Panama next year.

I agree with this.Ghost wrote:The moon.
Assuming you don't have a rocket, though, here on earth your best bet is probably to take the "third world solution." Find countries with the most inept and incompetent governments and these will be the ones with the least ability to stop liberty. These countries will often be poor, but not always.
The countries on ZacB's list could all work.
Nothing wrong with Panama as a starting point. Good base of operations for a company as well.
Russia could work as well.
Or Black Africa, even some places off the map, like Namibia.
If Russia is too hard (language, visa, work, banking restrictions), and you don't want to "go Black", then Latin America is the place.
But try to choose the country and city based on where you can have some kind of expat network, not just the ideal country. Folks from HA, or from church, or from a forum, something. The idea is not to be a brave pioneer, the idea is to succeed.
If you're doing TEFL any of the Latin countries you mentioned would be worth applying to.

Window and Peabody are kind of right but as usual for HA way too negative (like House).
Mexico only has howling dogs in really poor neighborhoods, and you don't have to live there. And the dogs do go to sleep after 11pm or so.
Argentina may have Lefties at the top, but so does the US. Argentina also has a few unrepentant Nazis (Bariloche and elsewhere) and a lot of right-wing nationalists (Peronists) in Buenos Aires. I'm not pushing it, but I wouldn't rule it out based on politics. They are still militant on the Falklands, which is somewhat endearing.
It's true though that the upper middle class in Colombia or Paraguay is going to be more vocally anti-Commie than in some countries.

"Well actually, she's not REALLY my daughter. But she does like to call me Daddy... at certain moments..."
I have heard that the leftist government in Argentina is totally ineffective, and the country is really run by local warlords. So there are libertarian groups there. However, living there sounds like such a pain in the ass, I pass. For one thing, you would have to find a source outside the country where you could buy dollars, and you wouldn't want to keep too much of the local currency. Colombia seems to have the most stable economy and government in South America despite all their insurgency problems.

I am a long way from settling, but I am just sorting some of the countries. The real estate in Argentina seems to be at rock bottom prices. Chile and Colombia seem to be the most conservative, but I worry socialists may be gaining traction in Chile.

The choice is yours, but you'd be going down there at your own peril. The real estate is low because the place is a Third-World shthole overrun with thugs and corrupted wannabe-Italian politicos. In addition to lefty fanatics and pro-Palestine militants (Google "Plan AndÃnia"), Argentines are some seriously irrational, downright deranged people on average. They're not exactly known for their warm welcome towards either the British (Google "Malvinas Argentinas"), or towards us lowly imperialistas shahnnnn-kees, either.zacb wrote:I am a long way from settling, but I am just sorting some of the countries. Before you close that Google tab, take a gander at Hebe de Bonafini.
But, I'm not here to repeat myself like a broken record; ultimately, the choice is yours.

You make a good point. I was thinking ala Doug Casey, but perhaps I underestimate the Marxism of the area (via the people).WindowLicker wrote:The choice is yours, but you'd be going down there at your own peril. Until people study and understand sound economics and understand the power of good families as a foundation of your civilization the states power will continue to grow unchecked. This is the ticket to less total state.
Our rulers know this that is why they set this economic system up and are destroying the family base.

There is no place to go this time because there is no Messiah.zacb wrote:Here is the thing: I am a libertarian who supports people's right to die, to privately marry whomever you want (without government license), speak whatever you so please without FCC approval, ingest whatever you so please, conduct your fiscal matters without government intervention, have guns, engage in whatever social lifestyle you want as it does not hurt anyone, etc. . I totally agree, the chase is through. I have come to the conclusion there is a major die off of humanity coming shortly and it's what the planet needs to try and regenerate the ECO system. People have had plenty of time to figure out the direction we need to be going as a species and they have not. I got a bad feeling about what the 6th mass extinction is going to mean for our children as well as humanity.Luc Furr wrote:There is no place to go this time because there is no Messiah.zacb wrote:Here is the thing: I am a libertarian who supports people's right to die, to privately marry whomever you want (without government license), speak whatever you so please without FCC approval, ingest whatever you so please, conduct your fiscal matters without government intervention, have guns, engage in whatever social lifestyle you want as it does not hurt anyone, etc. .
