My Thoughts on the Discrimination of Asians in NA

My Own Thoughts and Observations On the Discrimination of Asians in US and Canada

Even today, many Asians still hold the belief that America and Canada are tolerant countries, and getting a visa to either is like settling down in some sort of holy land. However, as you may already be aware of, the reality is that we are the most discrminated among all the racial groups, and I will list some of the reasons from my own experiences as well as what I have heard from others.

1. The American and Canadian media often portrays Asia as being underdeveloped and totally barbaric compared to North America. These stories form peoples' perceptions of Asians in general. I've had people in Canada and the USA (who obviously have never been outside their own country) ask me questions like: "Do the Chinese women still have tiny feet?" and do the typical "ching chong" imitations of Chinese language (which FYI the standard version is called Mandarin). It's really sad to see how ignorant the typical North American is. I've even had a university professor in Canada tell me that he thought Chinese people still lived in small towns and villages. 2 months later, he actually took a trip to Chongqing and Guangzhou, and his mind was blown off.

2. Asians are more or less seen as immigrants and just not "American" enough to fit in, even if in fact they were born and raised in US/Canada and speak perfectly good English. Again, this is due to the fact that those in North America who have lived on the continent (and in their own country) for basically their entire lives are dumb and too easily influenced by the media.

3. In recent years Asians have begun to make so much money that it makes many jealous. In response, the USA and Canada are beginning to implement stricter immigration policies in the fear that Asians would eventually dominate the eocnomy (which is already happening).

4. People think Asians are less educated because Asia back then was mainly based on agriculture.

5. Asians are always seen as "nerdy", "studyaholic", and just not "cool" enough. Of course us on HA including me are the complete opposite of the typical perception.

There could be many reasons I have not stated, but this is what I've known from my own experiences. It can mainly be summed up as:

A) The media's ignorance

B) People believing the media like sheep

C) Most North Americans being too patriotic to even give a darn about another culture

D) Fear and jealousy of Asians being successful / rich

Another thing I have noticed is that some people see that you look Asian (East Asian specifically), and automatically assume you have a language barrier. While I grew up in Canada and speak non-accented English, one time I came across this woman in Vancouver who talked to me as if I were still in ESL, and asking me hwether I know this word or that. Then I saw her turn her head around to chat with a white co-worker, and she was a lot more natural.

Remember the UCLA girl Alexandra Wallace who posted her rant on YouTube? Her imitation of Chinese language is exactly what many in North America still think the Chinese language sounds like. Do some research and you will know that Mandarin and Cantonese are VERY different from one another. Also, when a lot of people mention "Asian", what they really mean is East Asian.

P.S. Alexandra Wallace mentioned "American manners", WTF are "American manners?"

Unlike 99% of Asians out there, I'm proud to be individualistic, intellectual, and fun! I look forward to a life of global dating / living in front of me, or else why would I even be on HA?

What's even more funny is, if you do not fit their typical perception of an Asian (study freak, nerd, dogmatic), they will see you as being even more weird than if you are typically Asian!

Bao3niang, your wise words-of-advice will be of no use to most Asians who are desperate to want to 'flee' from their countries. Also, you are right in saying that Asians are treated worse than dirt, in those countries; and yet, Asian Americans/Canadians continue to cling to the notion that somehow those countries are better than the ones in Asia. Nonsense!

I actually like living in Asia than I do in the West; at least here, I'm not subjected to vicious acts of racism, discrimination, and hate, or extreme violence (like the recent spate of anti-White "Knockout Games" by Blacks) or crazy gun-rampages or school shootings, or crazy police state tactics or b.s. political correctness gone amok. ...

Also, most women in Asia actually like Asian men--unlike their Westernized Asian counterparts (skanks) in the West, who like to look-down on their own race. ...

I've made a similar thread in the past on HA, titled: "Why do Asians want to move to the West?" I still don't understand why they would want to, considering how much better Asia is doing economically than the United States or Europe.

But be prepared for Ladislav (the prime defender of the USA on HA) to proclaim how 'most Asians are happy in the West' and that racism against Asians is non-existant (especially in comparison to racism against Whites--which is a bunch of nonsense). Also, he will rail about how 'evil and racist' all Asian people are. ...

Hello,

I have a better question for all you 'Asian' men ~ who cares what the whiteman thinks?? I'm white myself and I am so sick of whitemen. I am ashamed to have been part of this strange breed of men that created feminism. But I'm even more disappointed in Chinese and Indian men for accepting feminism.
