Are you sick of people asking you for money?

Every damn time I go to Dallas Union Station somebody asks me for money. They always begin with "I am not a bum/panhandler but..." and they always have a story for why they need money. Even if I feel generous and buy somebody a sandwich, it just means ten other people see that and try to play on my sense of liberal guilt. Do I think people need a social safety net? Hell yes. Am I that social safety net? Hell no. I am exhausted of it, especially given how anti-social Dallas really is just like most American cities. If I accidently make eye contact with somebody they give me this fake smile to ward me off. A guy asked to use my phone one day and when I tried to talk to him he looked pissed off like I was just an inconvenience.

There is only one reason to go to Dallas and that is when there is a Mavericks game because Dirk Nowitzki is that best thing Dallas has to offer anymore. Otherwise stay the hell away from it.

The thing is that people do need money these days. They don't get enough from official sources, so they try to chisel it out of others. Just the way it is.

I've also noticed that panhandlers tend to congregate around big universities. I've seen this at Purdue, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Wisconsin Madison. Better to just donate to an official charity or church and let them take care of the indigent.

I can't seem to get away from it. Everyone wants my money. Can't go anywhere without someone asking. Can't get any peace at home without people knocking on my door trying to sell something or wanting me to give to charity. Then I go online to a forum for example (not this one) and they're asking members to donate to help with the running costs. WTF? They expect people to delve into their pockets to keep their forum afloat yet they're the ones making money from it lol.

Common guys....How is this a BIG ISSUE?

I'm in a third world sh*t hole called India and there are many many beggars, poor people...whose job is to live from asking money from others...

I understand the guilt feeling etc but you don't have to give EVERY TIME they ask for money...You only have to give money WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT...Its that simple...You are allowed to say NO...

Poverty is going nowhere and you ain't getting rich anytime soon

That's why giving money to others has a spiritual aspect to it.....You gain Dharma Point when you give money to others which reduces your Karma but giving all the money that you have does not serve the purpose either..Spirituality is not 1=1...so if you think ..you keep on giving for ever to reduce your sins does not work...its like you kill someone and then give birth to babies...that would be a joke...its not 1=1 ...giving 100 dollars has no meaning more than giving 1 dollar...

India never believed in Charity..Its a western concept...The core of human life is spirituality...In the west, they kill you with GUILT for not doing enough...

Dharma says...you have to also follow your PATH ...Your Destiny...There is no need to help others for ever...

You can be generous few times in a year.... you don't have to do it everyday...because God does not work the way we were told he does...You know that time comes when you feel like giving...then do it...

If you are feeling guilty, or angry or pissed when someone asks you money..Then you are doing really something wrong in your life...You have been taught otherwise...aka not Truth
