I think the reason there are more autistic children these days is because the diagnosis is more prevalent. A lively kid used to just be a lively kid, now it's ADHD. A silent or shy kid used to just be a silent or shy kid, now he's labeled Asperger's right away. People are obsessed with labeling anything or anyone out of the ordinary as "sick", and "fixing" said sickness by drugging the shit out of people. Which in turn makes them more backwards, slower and robotic, and relying on heavier medication.
