Why were Watergate, Iran Contra, Lewinsky such a big deal?

Post by Winston »

I don't get something. Why was Watergate, the Iran Contra scandal, the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and the Edward Snowden fiasco, such a big deal that they had to be publicized and exposed by the US government itself?

Wire tapping and bugging calls are the norm in Washington DC. They are nothing unusual. So why were the above made into such a big deal? Was it to punish certain Presidents that didn't obey their masters or the elite, such as Nixon, Reagan and Clinton? Or was it just a publicity stunt for some reason?

The thing is, according to Wikipedia and establishment defenders, Watergate and Iran Contra are considered the only "proven conspiracies" because the government publicized and exposed them. If the government denies the conspiracy or hides it, then it is considered "unproven" no matter what, despite the evidence or confession. That's very bad logic and presupposes that authority = truth when in reality truth is determined by evidence, reason, logic, not by authority.

Yet even the smartest geeks and scientists, such as Michio Kaku and others funded by the establishment, think like that, because they don't want to go rogue or go against the grain and be ostracized. You gotta tow the party line to be paid by the system and receive your funding.

But anyway, what was the big deal about Watergate? The NSA, CIA and FBI spy on people all the time and wiretap phones. So why was Nixon impeached and why did he have to resign? Why couldn't he have just insisted on remaining President, and order the US army to protect him? Furthermore, why would Nixon's staff break into the Democratic Headquarters since he was already popular and going to win the second election anyway, according to polls?

And what was the big deal about trading arms for hostages in the Iran Contra Scandal? Isn't that something routine? Doesn't the CIA supply arms to foreign governments all the time? Why did that have to be publicized and made into a scandal?

And why was Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky such a big deal? Most powerful men have mistresses. So why bring light to that and punish him? Because he did something wrong and wasn't going along with the cabal that runs Washington DC?

And why would the US media publicize the whistleblowing by Edward Snowden? There are many insider whistleblowers that have not received any publicity in the US media for exposing government crimes. For example:

- FBI director Ted Gunderson revealed a Satanic child abuse ring in the CIA and made public speeches about it.
- E Howard Hunt, the CIA Watergate burglar, confessed on his deathbed that he knew about the JFK assassination conspiracy and played a part in it as a benchwarmer, which was recorded on audio by his son.
- Reagan's education secretary Charlotte Iserbyt revealed that there was a deliberate agenda to dumb down America in its schools, and gave interviews about it with independent journalists.
- A number of people who knew Lyndon Johnson, including his lawyer Barr McClellan and mistress Madeleine Dunan Brown, said that he was in the plot to kill JFK and even had his own sister killed by his henchman Malcom Wallace.
- Lee Harvey Oswald's mistress and girlfriend Judyth Vary Baker has come out and told her story and why Oswald was innocent and a patsy who did not shoot JFK.
- CIA Director William Colby revealed that the CIA controlled all major figures in the corporate media.
Etc.

So how come none of those whistleblowers received any attention in the US mainstream media, but were treated like they don't exist and their confessions were unheard? How come Edward Snowden's confession was publicized by the mainstream media but the above were not? You gotta wonder whether Snowden was a shill.

How does the US government decide which conspiracies and secrets to expose and publicize? How does it decide what to make into a public scandal? Aren't all those scandals the norm? If so, why were Watergate and Iran Contra portrayed as something unusual and out of the norm, as though government operations were supposed to have a moral compass?

Anyone know?

He might have displeased the real rulers.

But that aside, we never would have heard of Lewinsky -- or Paula Jones, for that matter -- if we hadn't had laws prohibiting sexual harassment.

But we do have those laws, thanks to that lovely 1964 Civil Rights Act. So accordingly, Clinton's private life became fair game, as it would be for any man accused of sexual harassment.

And since he committed perjury in his deposition for the Jones lawsuit, he committed a felony, an impeachable offense, which warranted his removal from office.
