First of all children learn their native language from their parents and other relatives next to them.Winston wrote: I wrote many times in this forum that I speak basic Chinese. Does nobody of your family members speak to you in Chinese?
In schools at least in Europe, it is possible, often even obligatory to study a foreign language, in my case in High School, as native German speaker in Europe, it was English obligatory when 10 y/o, and another additional language of my choice when 12 y/o, in my case Latin/French, later on also Japanese.
American schools here in Japan also follow this way of studies, foreign languages at least 1, later on 2 or 3 are a must, otherwise how can you work as a foreigner in Japan or elsewhere in Asia?
And even if you stay in Europe, how can you deal with other Europeans for business and tourism without speaking foreign languages?
As a child of Chinese descent in Europe, you will choose Chinese as optional language, as a Japanese of course Japanese if you live in Europe with your parents. This makes these children almost bi-lingual after university. It gives these Asian-Europeans strong advantages when applying for jobs related with Asia.
Unlike Japanese, Chinese and Indians are known to me to speak perfectly their own native language and English and often other languages too.
It seems, foreign language studies are rather neglected in the USA which is very regrettable.
Good to know you are now in China and I am sure your basic Chinese knowledge will strongly improve, maybe also you might consider to learn how to write, which is very important as spoken Chinese only makes you an illiterate.
Show me this thread where I wrote a comment like this! Therefore, why did you Yohan and Terrence and MarcosZeitola compare Chinese girls to American girls? That was totally and utterly FALSE and WRONG.
Did you not read my comments in this thread? Or my comments in other threads?
I never compare Chinese (or other women, Thai, Japanese, Malay, Cambodian....) with American women, as I consider US-girls as the deepest point of the scale anyway. Nothing below anymore, any foreign woman might be better.
I said several times in my comments, it is better NOT to compare Chinese women with US-women, but to compare them with other Asian women.
In your posting you compared Chinese women with Filipinas, but I cannot see any valid argument why Chinese women should be 'superior' to Filipinas (or any other Asian women).
As a fact, a lot of low level jobs in Japan are done by Chinese men and women from mainland China, legal and illegal. Almost every cleaning job in a restaurant is done by a Chinese, filling up shelves in convenience stores, factory work etc. are done by Chinese, the cheapest 'girls of the night' out in the streets near our railway station in Southern Tokyo are all mainland-Chinese.
Theft, pickpocketing, burglary, forgery etc. - about 50 percent of all foreigners arrested in Japan for crimes are mainland-Chinese.
If you really think a mainland-Chinese is 'superior' to other Asians, for sure in Japan this is not the case.
