He has been given a chance to go to med school despite early failure, which is a chance that most people don't get, which means he got a form of affirmative action, whether he is a minority or not. I assume he was using resources which would otherwise have been available to others, rather than resources he magicked out of thin air or something. The result is just some loser who can't even see through obvious hoaxes like covaids, which speaks to an abysmal lack of general knowledge of the field, lack of ability to integrate knowledge and poor to pathetic thinking skills. What a waste of resources that could have gone to train quality people.

Withdraws do not count against your GPA, failures do. I realized early on that I had to withdraw from three courses and rather than failing them I took time to regroup and tried again, getting As each time after building a better foundation upon which to work. I'm not a minority, and I paid my own way through school, hence why I was working so hard while I was in school. There was zero affirmative action involved in the process. You can talk all you want about COVID, but you weren't in the hospital watching people die. Saying it wasn't a thing versus it could have been handled better are entirely separate issues, and if you believe it just didn't happen you're literally delusional. I grew up in a poor and violent home and ended up homeless when I decided I'd be better off on the streets than there. I scraped by working mental jobs, and was bitter at life, the world, women, my fellow men, you name it. I suffered many a heartbreak, layoff, and setback. But I came to realize that no one was going to improve my lot in life but me.

I worked constantly while going to a local college, knowing that my only options were success or death. Had to withdraw from a few courses because, you know, I never finished high school so getting up to speed was hard. But I eventually did it. 80 hours a week of work and study for several years, and I managed to land myself a decent job after school. Met a decent girl along the way. Traveled before deciding to settle down. Really liked science so I went back and busted my ass and got into medical school, then my specialty of choice. I failed and failed and failed again but never gave up. I cannot respect the man who quits, for that is the antithesis of being a man. I could have said at any point along the way, "this is too hard, I can't do this, I'm too ugly, I'm too stupid, no job will hire me, no woman will want me." I could have given up, been angry at the world, and let my life fall into ruin. And it was nothing but ruin for the first 24 years. But I did not.

What you said is true and you have all my respect if you really started from nowhere and managed to land into one of the most prestigious and coveted professions. Yet, if you look at the world population, where you find virtually any level of achievement through self-improvement and achievement through entitlement, rags to riches, riches to rags, rags to rags and riches to richer, where do you put the respect bar? What measures of personal, social, economic, spiritual success would draw your admiration and what measures of laziness, ineptitude, debauchery and ill-will would draw your contempt?

As an adult man and as a doctor, of all people, you should have reached a mental condition when you appreciate, forgive, "give a pass" to a surprisingly large number of people. All the more because your existence has been predicated on self-improvement, you should have a humble, benign view to those who, by nature and nurture, couldn't, wouldn't and didn't achieve as much as you. It's a dense infinity of over/underachievers out there. There will always be someone better than you and someone "worse" than Cornfed.

I actually have a very benign view forward most people. Everyone has their own hopes, dreams, talents, skills, wins, and losses. What I don't tolerate is whining about it all without working towards bettering oneself. I don't look down upon those that work hard and fail, or those that have failed but don't complain. Complaint without action is insufferable
