Revenge
I'm not going to lie, I have a few enemies from my past who wanted to hurt me and tried to. I let them go at the time because I was young and naive, but now that I'm back in the US after living abroad and I'm much older than I was, I'm in the right mind to go after them and get some sweet revenge. I want to ask the forum, if you've ever got revenge on someone who did you wrong or hurt you.....

Re: Revenge
No, too many people have f***ed me over for me to hold a grudge against individuals. I just hate humanity generally.

Re: Revenge
The Bible on the subject, I believe: "Vengeance is mine saith the Lord." Don't know if that's the last word on the subject, but I suspect going around thinking about having been victimized isn't the most useful mindset. I never exacted any revenge, but it hasn't escaped my attention that everybody I ever thought screwed me over or slighted me is dead now, in their 60s or younger, and at least one by suicide.

Re: Revenge
Revenge can be a good thing and satisfying if done properly.

Re: Revenge
I'm curious as to what kind of things those people from your past have done to you to warrant your desire for revenge. Are you talking serious affronts to your person or just petty bullying?kangarunner wrote: ↑December 6th, 2022, 1:23 pmI'm not going to lie, I have a few enemies from my past who wanted to hurt me and tried to. I believe that revenge is only warranted in extreme cases where there is a serious motive. If, for example, somebody has r@ped your sister or done serious harm to a family member or friend, then revenge is indeed 100% justified and should be pursued, but I wouldn't recommend it for petty things that could easily be swept under the bridge.
As the wise Mr. Miyagi says: "You look for revenge that way, start by digging two graves!"

I don't think that I've ever done something to anybody who wronged me that could be categorized as revenge. I occasionally come across people who bullied me in school and know that I could now easily kick their asses with my MMA training, but I just don't care anymore and don't hold their past actions against them as long as they are respectful to me.
I've dished out minor payback to people who have wronged me but not anything too serious.
When I was 15, I was dating a girl but her friend who had it in for me convinced her to dump me. At the same time, I knew that that friend had a bottle of rare liquor stored at a mutual acquaintance's house (yeah, the UK is a horrible society where kids start to drink alcohol in their teens) and, for payback, I lied to that mutual acquaintance's dad and told him that I was a friend of his daughter and that she had told me to go for the bottle and take it to her party. The guy believed me and I made off with the bottle of rare liquor. But I only did it to get my own back on that bitch who cost me a girlfriend. I didn't even drink it. I simply gave it away to some friends of mine. When I saw that girl at school the next day, I was deeply satisfied with having screwed her out of that bottle of rare liquor.

That's about it. Fortunately, I don't have an extensive history of Oldboy-style revenge.

Re: Revenge
@Lucas88 I don't know how shit is where you live, but I'm from the South in the US and if you don't stand up for yourself you're a p***y. If some guy pushes you, and you don't do anything back, you're a p***y. Well this shit happened 13 years ago when I was 23 working at some slave factory operating saws and lifting heavy wood shit all day long for minimum wage. The 2nd day on the job, this guy who I had never met before starts shit with me. I'm not gonna say what it was but he just kept on and on trying to break me down and yelling at me for no reason other than he hated me in his eyes even though I never did anything to him. I was too p***y at the time to do anything because at 23 I had tons of mental problems and was naive. Anyway, fast forward 13 years later to present day. I'm 36 and he's 44 now with kids. Times have changed and now I want to do some shit back to him. He's in the same city as me, I can find him easily.
You're probably thinking, why am I thinking about something that happened 13 years ago. When I got off the plane after a few months living here in this city, the memory of that dude yelling at me and doing what he did keeps popping up in my brain every day now. He keeps popping up in my brain for no reason, like my mind is telling me go find him and get him back now.

Are you going to find the guy and challenge him to a fight?kangarunner wrote: ↑December 6th, 2022, 8:35 pm@Lucas88 I don't know how shit is where you live, but I'm from the South in the US and if you don't stand up for yourself you're a p***y. Or are you going to pursue a more calculated and destructive form of revenge like burning out his car or spreading malicious rumors about him?

Re: Revenge
Doing something like that in the second one is something a real man wouldn't do. But then thinking again, there's very few real men or real people in this world anymore. That's why I've chosen Asia to live out the rest of my life and not in this degenerate, greedy, selfish, nasty place called America.

Does that mean that you're gonna fight him then?kangarunner wrote: ↑December 7th, 2022, 12:39 pmDoing something like that in the second one is something a real man wouldn't do. If this guy really is a massive asshole, you could always do both. Stealthily burn out his car (a pvssy move yet vengeful and destructive at the same time) and then about a month later turn up on his doorstep, explain who you are and what he did to you, and challenge him to a fight. The latter macho move will cancel out the former pvssy move. That's how karma works!

I heard there is a connection between harboring grudges and having health problems like cancer and ulcers. Someone said unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping it hurts someone else.kangarunner wrote: ↑December 6th, 2022, 8:35 pm@Lucas88 I don't know how shit is where you live, but I'm from the South in the US and if you don't stand up for yourself you're a p***y. It could be the guy who had a problem with you had some mental health issues, also, for all you know.
Just forgive the guy and move one. It isn't going to help you in life one bit to makes his life miserable.
As far as southern culture goes, I get the culture of standing up for yourself.... but 13 years later, over something like that, that isn't going to score you any points or make you look more like a man.
Btw, I've worked with people who insulted me, back when I did construction work in my late teens and early 20's. It wasn't good. I stood up for myself verbally, and shut that down.

@MrMan Thats the thing. I didnt stand up for myself. I was a p***y. He probably lives about 15-20 min away from me. Re: Revenge
Hey, I understand why you're feeling like that. Whenever I'm back in the UK, I become influenced again by the negative culture around me and start to feel angry and violent. Everything just seems to piss me off so much easier and I might even lash out at people from time to time.kangarunner wrote: ↑December 7th, 2022, 4:51 pm@MrMan Thats the thing. I'm not like that at all when I'm in Spain. I feel much calmer and more relaxed, enjoy a greater level of inner peace and mental wellbeing, and almost never have angry thoughts or the desire to punch somebody. In Spain the overall vibe is just different. There's not the same anger and antisociality in the air as there is in the UK.
This is why I must spend most of my time in Spain or another Hispanic country and limit my interactions with Anglo people. When it comes to mood and mental state, environment is everything.
