When they ban vehicles
When they ban vehicles
The idea that you can just adjust your personal lifestyle and live well even as Western countries turn into communist hellholes is all well and good, but what happens when you can no longer drive? What they are doing is encouraging everyone to go electric. Then they will say that since we have electric, it is time to get rid of all internal combustion cars. Then they will remotely switch off all the electric cars, and that will be that. What will you do to live free in an unfree world then? You'll most likely be begging to for a place in their pods, eating tofu and bugs after you take your umpteenth clot shot booster.

That will be one of the worst places to live when they ban vehicles.

I just did some Googling on New Zealand and it looks awesome. Amazing landscape and hiking. My friend from high school just moved there recently.

Side note: if you ever want to literally feel the seconds of your miserable life go away one by one in the most boring, depressing way imaginable, just come to Memphis, TN.

Re: When they ban vehicles
There is indeed such a discussion going on all the time, but it is not about governments will switch off deliberately all electric cars remotely....
The question is more about if ALL cars running on electricity from where should this electricity come from....
Yes, you are right in this sense, if you have no electricity to charge your electric car, you cannot use it, and this is a bit different with cars running on petrol.
You can keep easily some petrol in a patrol can in your home - for example if you live in a rural area with no gas station around, but it is much more difficult and costly to collect and store electricity in your own home... how to do this?
Such development takes decades, now there is only the idea going on in some countries that in future, in about 10 years or so, only electric cars will be produced and no longer NEW cars will be allowed to run on petrol. However I do not know about any discussion/restrictions going on about used petrol cars after that dead line.
Nowadays I see only few electric cars in Japan, they are expensive, need parking for around 30 minutes when charging the battery, the distance you can drive without charging is rather short...

Re: When they ban vehicles
That is the point. The bad guys say cars should be electric, but there is no upgrade of the electric system to allow for this. How do we make sense of the situation? The answer is that you just won't be allowed to own cars.
Re: When they ban vehicles
I don't think there is enough lithium and cobalt in the world to replace the current fleet of petroleum-powered vehicles with electric cars. I suppose they could come up with a new technology. IMO, governments could hope for a blend of hybrids and electric cars, with electric cars being for those who live in cities and drive shorter distances, if they think reducing carbon emissions should be a big priority. I'm not sold either way on that.
Governments could also get behind developing Thorium power. This was a theoretical alternative for nuclear power when it was being developed, before the US government backed uranium because it could be used to make bombs. Thorium is not supposed to be able to be used to make an atomic bomb. Thorium power, if developed, is supposed to produce a lot less waste. I suppose that waste could be used for 'dirty bombs' using conventional explosives, but not an A-bomb. Also, thorium is more plenteous throughout the world. Western powers could share the technology for nuclear energy without giving away the means to make nuclear bombs. The technology for nuclear bombs is over 70 years old, and the need for energy is great. Who knows if they will make fission viable?
I don't know how much time or resources it would take to develop Thorium power.
Whether conventional nuclear or Thorium, governments could build new nuclear plants to power cars. I read hydrogen power is a lot less efficient than lithium ion batteries, but it would not require the same raw materials. And if there were a lot of nuclear plants producing excess electricity at night, that's a possibility. Hybrids could suffer from the same limitation as electric cars if they use lithium ion batteries (I'm guessing less lithium and cobalt for these cars than full-blown electric.) Maybe hydrogen cars could be a part of the mix. Also, capturing the heat from petroleum cars and turning that into electricity and storing that does not seem to be a developed technology at this point.
I live in the US, which is a vast country. In much of the country, if you do not have a car, you are stuck. Nowadays with UBER, I suppose you could get somewhere if you are willing to wait. I do not even know if Ubers serve the underpopulated parts. Are there Ubers going to ranches in Wyoming or potato farms in Idaho. We need transportation badly here. I'm okay with trains down the median of the highway, and nice, safe clean public transportation. That can also reduce traffic. Taking away cars and trucks would shut down much of our economy.

Re: When they ban vehicles
Once again, that is the point. They will let stupid people think that combustion cars will simply be replaced, but the real idea is to just not allow ordinary people to have their own transport. But won't that make society as we know it impossible? Yes, exactly.
Re: When they ban vehicles
I don't know if some of the left-leaning politicians know enough about how the world works to realize they cannot just replace the petroleum-run fleet right now, and may not have thought about what taking transportation away from the masses mean. But they haven't quite come for our cars yet in the US, if they aren't in California.Cornfed wrote: ↑January 12th, 2023, 6:52 amOnce again, that is the point. I think it was one day the California governor signed an executive order or law about getting rid of gasoline-powered vehicles in California by a certain year, and the next day they asked consumers to decrease usage of electricity.
Re: When they ban vehicles
You will be allowed to own an electric car, but the question is from where can you buy (it will not be cheap!) electricity, or if you own a house with a parking lot, you might be able to produce electricity yourself, but you need quite a lot of rather expensive solar panels on your roof to do this ...
otherwise you have no chance to charge a battery of an electric car.
I don't think petrol/diesel motors can be replaced easily with electric motors, the small private cars maybe but very slowly, some small delivery vehicles for the post office, some folklifts and such small machineries - but what about all those trucks, buses etc. - with all these heavy vehicles which are for commerical use...
Re: When they ban vehicles
They generally signal what they are up to. That is a clear signal. You are simply not going to be allowed to live a first-world lifestyle any more.
Re: When they ban vehicles
I just read a bill presented to Congress to fund thorium reactors presented about a year ago. I might have emailed about that a while back.
Re: When they ban vehicles
Here in Japan there is the opinion, maybe petrol can be replaced with hydrogen
You can find some information about it, link beow.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_vehicle
Progress is however slow, production of hydrogen fuel and of cars using hydrogen are not cheap at all and complicated, hydrogen is not a fuel without danger, in case of a leak it might explode. Safety is a major concern.

That is the whole idea, you will no longer be able to travel far easily, they want to do depopulation as well and this all fits in with the 15 minute city..

Re: When they ban vehicles
Yeah, you can't have a few thousand douchebags openly running the world and treating everyone else like garbage while still allowing us the agency we have been accustomed to. It is going to be a far more prison-like lifestyle in most places for those who are allowed to live at all. A lot of control systems were really just preparation and experimentation for what is coming in the next few years.Moretorque wrote: ↑January 12th, 2023, 7:14 amThat is the whole idea, you will no longer be able to travel far easily, they want to do depopulation as well and this all fits in with the 15 minute city..
