is learning viet possible for a foreigner?
So my friend who's vietnamese american wants to take a trip with me to vietnam and find us virgin rural wives.
I just wondered if learning the tones well,is possible?
this opens up oppurtunity from 0(and westernized gold diggers)to 1000%(finding true vietnamese women that have traditional values in smaller cities and rural areas).
it's well worth trying for me,even if it takes me months of intense practice to really understand and speak the tones.
Viet women are the BEST women on earth for a Tradwife seeking guy.

Whether or not it's possible to learn Vietnamese depends to a large degree on your own linguistic aptitude and, more specifically, your own individual strengths pertaining to language learning.willymonfrete wrote: ↑August 30th, 2023, 6:48 amSo my friend who's vietnamese american wants to take a trip with me to vietnam and find us virgin rural wives.

If you have a good ear for the tones and can easily make sense of the short, oftentimes monosyllabic words, then you should be able to learn the basics of Vietnamese quite quickly.
I'm the exact opposite. I suck at tones and can't stand "Chinese-style" languages with many short syllables that almost sound the same and analytical grammar. I much prefer languages with nice fluid pronunciation and complex morphological inflection which serves to make grammatical relations more precise. Indeed, the only Asian language that I ever got good at was Japanese.
With Vietnamese, at least the Latin script with diacritics to indicate the tones is easy to read and write. You don't have to learn thousands of Hanzi like you do with Chinese.
Re: is learning viet possible for a foreigner?
I would say that almost all languages in Asia in that region are rather complicated for a person who is a native English, German, French etc. speaker.
I dislike tonal languages.
Thai and Lao are similar to each other, are tonal and writing/reading is not so easy. Despite my second home is in Thailand, I do not want to learn the local language.
Burmese language is also tonal, however it is NOT using the Thai writing, but another totally different alphabet.
Khmer is NOT tonal, but its vocabulary and its way of writing are confusing, sometimes similar to Thai, but often not.
Vietnamese is not easy to speak, but it switched from writing using Chinese Characters to the Roman alphabet (I think about 70 years ago).
This makes it maybe easier for Western people, but more difficult for people who can read Chinese characters.
and so on....simply said, not easy.
Yes, it is possible to learn such languages of course, but you need a lot of time to study them and you should live - at least for a while - among native speakers in their own country. This is really most important in case of tonal languages.
Make sure that you can really make use out of such an Asian language on a regular base - if not you will forget quickly what you studied for years and unfortunately it was just a waste of time.

Chinese in Malaysia (Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese speakers) told me if a foreigner, who has no idea of tones tries to speak free of emotion, slowly word for word, (without tones at all) never change the speed you speak, they still can understand/guess easily what this foreigner says. - The problem is more about if the foreigner can understand what the Chinese speaker is talking to him in tonal form.
I tried this out with some Cantonese lessons while living among Chinese Cantonese people in Malaysia and I can confirm that it works.
The correct pronunciation of the word - spoken slowly one by one - seems to be much more important for a native tonal speaker that the tones.

It might take longer than just a few months - and this vocal training has to be done very frequently day for day together with a native speaker - expect some surprise...not sure if it worth the effort and also the money.it's well worth trying for me, even if it takes me months of intense practice to really understand and speak the tones.

I have a good ear for sounds, and I was pretty good at understanding and saying chinese tones when I studied it in 2014.
Speaking viet, opens up alot of options with good girl virgins.
I hope if I do go that route,my wife will wear ao dai too

I think with arduous study and practice,it is certainly possible.
btw, cool that you dated a chinese girl,I didn't know you were attracted to east asian women like me ;D

I befriended some Vietnamese girls when I was in Japan and had a really good impression of them. They seemed to have a high level of culture and sophistication, were very friendly and sociable, and are in my opinion more aesthetically endowed than other Asians. Vietnamese people are possibly the best Asians.willymonfrete wrote: ↑August 30th, 2023, 12:40 pmThank you,Lucas88.

Moreover, Vietnam looks like a very nice country to me. It has a tropical climate, nice friendly laid-back people, and a rich culture.
I did indeed date a Chinese girl when I was in Japan but I'm not really attracted to East Asian girls at all. I like some Southeast Asian girls like Thais, Vietnamese and Filipina morenas since they tend to be browner and a little more curvaceous than East Asians (most of which have the body of a 12 year-old boy, lol!), but ultra-thick big butt Latinas are more of my thing as everybody here already knows.

I can appreciate a hot SEA,but a elegant pale NEA like Minji from Newjeans,is my ideal when it comes to east asian girls.Lucas88 wrote: ↑August 30th, 2023, 1:34 pmI befriended some Vietnamese girls when I was in Japan and had a really good impression of them. Vietnamese from the north, they are like this despite their more southern locale.
I like traditionalist societies and more elegant women for long term and more primitive ones and women for sexcapades.
I am 30,it's time to throw in the trying to be a player towel and just get a nice moral woman that treats me like a king.
I also like that east asian women are partial to white guys in a sense, because all I need to do is lighten one shade lighter on my face and arms thru laser and use sunscreen to stay my real color, and I'm instantly a white gigachad over there
