Recent college graduate, studied Russian

Hey all, just wanted to leave my introduction here. I'm a recent college graduate with a BA in International Relations with a second major in Russian language. I speak Russian at a high intermediate level (fairly well, enough to get by and to express myself comfortably) and I had two occasions to travel to Russia on government scholarships. These trips were defining moments in my life which removed me from the USA for months at a time. I agree with the general consensus on this forum that in Russia there is a more patriarchal society (I, for one, felt like a king there) where one can really be a man, but I don't have anything against American women. I have a lot of American women in my life (including my mother, my aunts, friends, a girlfriend and such), and I have never had trouble picking up girls in the USA (I'm tall, handsome, well educated, and well spoken so I geuss I lucked out), so that's not why I'm here.

This site appeals to me more for the discussion of American culture in comparison with the culture of less developed countries. I agree that American culture is dry, individualistic, and unforgiving. Winstins proclamations that 'each man is an island' are true to some extent. I also have seen how some of my friends have had a lot of trouble communicating with women, and I KNOW they would do much better in Russia (because they are foreigners there and Americans expecially). Anyway, this post is quickly becoming disjointed and rambling, so I'll stop now.

Welcome gredman, glad you found our forum. I know the ladies in Russia put American women to shame. An average looking girl in Russia would be considered hot here in the USA.
