Where else in the world can you walk in a bar and find single women like these? Why would you even want to hit a dating site when you can book a flight to Medellin?

The question is are these girls down to earth and will date a average guy. And I mean by average just average not..some tall dark and handsome looking type of guy AND...I imagine speaking Spanish is a MUST in order to do well there.

Chanta76, believe me or not, these are just above average girls in Medellin. And they're usually very flirtatious. If they're single and in a trendy bar or disco, they expect to end up with a date, or even in someone's bed (or in a motel, on in the toilets...).

Colombian men who buzz around them tend to be short, slightly chubby, laddish, they're a different story from the women, and from the average Westerner.

Yes speaking Spanish would be a big plus to date them, although I would assume English would get you some way into some basic chitchat and probably more if there's body chemistry.

Tattoos? And so what? They're extremely popular in Colombia. My wife has one. I have one, for what it can matter. Also, consider that going to bars and discos to dance is something Latinos have in their blood. The fact many of those girls will hit one of those trendy bars or venues at least once a week doesn't make them particularly slutty, or not interested in something serious. In fact quite the opposite: the entire Medellin goes there, so where else should they go to socialise?

Oh and by the way, something that was hardly ever mentioned. Colombian women don't hit dating sites, unless they're mature, with kids or in need of a financially stable man by their side. The better ones are all out there in the bars, or at a friends countryside house. They like to dance, chat, flirt. And a great many of them have brains to spare, too. I have known, met, flirted and had sex with women from 20 countries or more (not showing off, it's an anthropological research statement

). Colombianas are the best: they have all the qualities a man could desire in a long-term companion.

A good looking man in Colombia is a 5.5/6 in the US. Anyone who's white, tall, long pointy nose, basically the polar opposite of the most common features of a Colombian girl (which, by the way, are exactly what I love

) will draw their attention. Then of course it's up to your command of body language and/or Spanish language to guarantee a longer bout of interest.

Maybe I should tell you what happened on my second night in Medellin, which my soon-to-be-wife's CEO (one of the funniest guys I had ever met, I swear!) decided to turn into an improvised stag night. It wasn't enough to fall out of love with Monica, but it was more than enough to breed an instant infatuation for an entire city!

As for douchebags, it depends what you mean by that. If you mean guys who take advantage of a woman and leave her after a few days, or promise her the world and then start fooling around the following day, yes, Colombia is full of them. Yet that statements wouldn't do justice to the rather sizeable (and growing) middle class and upper middle class, where men could well be short and not particularly attractive, but are at least well-groomed, well-educated, family-oriented and financially stable. And since most Colombian girls are either naturally beautiful, or know how to take care of themselves and be feminine, the choice is not much on a beautiful girl per se, but one that is beautiful and also serious, well-educated, etc. My wife's Facebook page is packed with such couples. I kind of envy them sometimes...then I realise than I have my fair slice of the cake and start to feel contented again

If you're planning to be there for at least a couple of months, I would advise you rent a small furnished flat and get a cleaning lady a few hours a week, it's probably cheaper and it'll give your more privacy and independence.

These appartments are not furnished and utilities not connected, bit complicated when you are in foreign country.
Private room is sweet since you dont have to worry abtfurniture, electricity,watter,internet bills besides you could socialize with people from guesthouse/hostel if you want to

So from reading this post I gather that guys here think Colombia women are on the average attractive where as the Colombia men are just average looking. At the same time who's to say that maybe Colombian men are good looking to Colombian women.....and if your white guy I mean a really really white looking guy( nordic features) ..your difference is what sets you apart but more importantly being American$$ is what really sets you apart.

Hmm...this reminds of my visit in Asia. I find that in countries where it is male dominated. The guys don't take care of themselves as they should...where as the women have to up their game to attract men. Which is the polar opposite here in USA.

I live in New York City. I see jacked up guys with beefy arms dress well where as the girls are on the average look like they have Burger King as their staple for their diet. Sometimes I feel like crying because even the mediocre looking girls think they are hot shit. The sad part is local New York guys just accept it because this is what is around us.

So my theories places where it is male dominated . Girls tend to be more attractive and lady like where as the guys ....don't put to much focus on their looks. BUT....times are changing. Let me use South Korea...there was a time when a Korean guy could look like shit but as long as he has a decent job he could get a pretty girl friend but nowadays the Korean girls want more so local Korean guys are hitting the gym and doing the metrosexual thing...which also coincides with the increase of women power.

i plan on moving to colombia in my mid 30Â´s the problem with colombia is it has shit visa laws for amerricans. you need to enroll in college go through legal hoops to stay there. also the food in colombia sucks. i think the national dish is chorizo. another problem never mentioned is that tons of western men go there to f**k women so your exoticness is less there than in might be in peru, central mexico, pretty much any non capital cities in latin america. now in colombia you have to move to smaller cities off the tourist trail which is what i will do. i just hate generalizations like colombia is the best because women are the hottest. thats true colombia has hot chicks but if your an american in medellin good luck competting against all the other tourists. the secret to being an expat is to market what you have going for you exoticness. so if your in the colombian cities most westerners go you are not as exotic. stick to 2nd tier cities in colombia, mexico really every where in latin america and you lose your competition the other gringos and your exoticness will shine and so will your ability to pull hot latinas
