I would have to agree with this. A national poll was taken that said the happiest Americans have ever been was in 1957. America was at its peak in the 50s, and back then people all around the world wanted to be American and foreigners greatly respected American servicemen.
Starting in the 1960s was the start of the overall decline. In the 60s crime exploded due to hard drugs such as heroin being pumped into the U.S. cities and by the time the 80s came this country was a major mess due to crack cocaine.
Looking at those 80s videos are great, but remember during that time in real life many people were strung out on drugs (including Whitney Houston) or they were about contract HIV and subsequently face a horrible death from AIDS

Re: The 80s: was it the last decade America had soul?
I was talking to a black woman who was in here 80's and owned 10 homes, she said back in the day you had way better property rights no matter who you were. So she felt it was much better and more free decades ago.
In the early 60's the assassination of Kennedy was another major strike in the taking over of America for the hidden hand building this one world government.
You can research how much they changed the system after that with much much more social engineering.
Property rights are key to being free as well as a stable honest financial system so you can earn a honest living.
The real problem to most everything really is because people do not educate themselves.......so the people who do are stuck with the idiots, our rulers figured how dumb the herd is long ago.

It depends on where blacks lived in the 1950s. In the south things were not great but many still stayed but in the north and out west blacks did much better and arguably had more opportunity back then then today.Rock wrote:I reckon 50s was a golden time in America for hetrosexual white folk at least. From first hand account I spoke with an old black woman who lived in the 1950s as a teen in the Philadelphia area and she told me back then she didn't know much about racism and that blacks and whites in the north got along and lived with each other on the same block. She said something about back then blacks and whites were both poor so they both relied on each other.

Re: The 80s: was it the last decade America had soul?
The money system we are locked into is a total joke. The dollar today is worth so much less then it was 30-40 years ago which is why we need to much of it just to buy things we need all on top of paying taxes that keep going up each year.Moretorque wrote:wHAT GOT RAMPED UP iN THE 80'S ?, it was the debt system running completely backwards made possible by the petro $ for the US where we outsource our ability to take care of ourselves locally. What happened in the late eighties as well was the S n L scandal where the banks started cheating the system bad right in front of our noises, we still had a functioning system to a degree with rule of law so alot of them went to jail but no more.
Most other countries have been enslaved to this as well but because their standard of life was not good anyway they really have not complained to much because they do not know better, let them see how America used to live then they will complain.. The net has made this possible and is getting the truth out every second of everyday but still most are to inept to put all the pieces together and see the hidden credit system as our real ruler.......
The money runs EVERYTHING PERIOD!.
The socialist system is totally unnatural and especially for the ECO, we are all being placed on the debt tread wheel from the day we are born to the day we die as a renter class through the back door but we are told it's freedom through the front door.
As stated most are just plain dumb and cannot see how this affects them from the moment they are born, women vote for resources and perceived security. They vote for big brother because big brother has captured most of the world wide resources to support them.
This creates a problem for the individual male who wants to spread his genes even if consciously not realizing or knowing it. It's a worldwide corporate structure they operate outside of that is putting the boot on the males primarily and in the process affects everything we turn out day to day in our lives.......
Everything else you guys talk about is just window fluff and that is what they want.

.I think the above is very important to consider since there seems to be a perception that many of these younger Americans are lazier than older generations. In other words they are not pulling hard enough on those bootstraps. I think there is a large combination of forces coming together here. For example, in the early 1980s you had 60 percent of workers with some sort of pension. Today that figure is in the low 20 percent range. New workers are thrown into 401k style investment plans and are left dealing with a stock market that is built on a riskier foundation than betting at the horse track. With high frequency traders and investment bankers that make billions of dollars on short-term bets that actually destabilize the economy, many younger workers are simply trying to get by let alone coming up with an investment plan.
Keep in mind that this is a crisis of generations. Many retired Americans depend on younger workers paying into the system to keep it going. So there is a two-way road here. If we do not find common ground you are going to have more protests, frustration, and struggles between young and old. This is a challenging economy for the young American worker.

Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days from 1984. They don't make music like this anymore.

Re: The 80s: was it the last decade America had soul?
America seems to always have had various "conditions," but those conditions got aggravated more & more as time went on- like what sugar is for diabetes. It was seemingly always an arrogant place, but winning a series of wars made it worse. It was always a bit fanatical & crazy on a religious level, but it mellowed-out a bit when times were better- now that things are more problematic financially, they've started getting weird again (ex: daughter's promising their fathers that they'll stay virgins until marriage & actually calling him their boyfriend).
I think a lot has to do with their "melting pot" style (actually, it was originally called a "smelting pot")- it's like the idea of "whatever the metal, whatever the condition, whatever the shape- the effort is to melt it down & zero it out." This "negating" mentality could be PHRASED as other things, but it works out like that- an influence of vitiation, basically. It's fairly common to find a "negative identity" here & that NEGATING mentality is something at work.
If you guys are interested, there's an article called "How America's obsession with money deadens us" that gets into things like that & mentions music specifically.

Clearly, it was. And 250 million views on that rap song clearly shows that the USA has become a nation of violent gangs. Welcome to the US of Ghetto!GoingAwol wrote: ↑August 13th, 2016, 12:43 pmI was born in 1991, but I grew up with a lot of 80s tv shows, movies, and music. It seems to me that a lot of wholesome and innocent movies, tv shows , and music came out during that decade. Since then, it's been all down hill. When you hear 80s songs like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5Ua835sudU you get that warm fuzzy feeling in your chest. Doesn't this song remind you of christmas with its warmth and coziness? Ballads like this were a dime a dozen in the 80s. It seems like there was still a lot of romance in the 80s, but today everything is so vapid and shallow. As far as I know, there hasn't been any songs like that one for the past fifteen to twenty years. I got on youtube today and this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsJLLEwUYZM has over 250 million views. WTF America?

I want to add an explanatory autoplay video to a web site. I discussed how long it should be with my daughter. I thought a 10 second limit would work, assuming an attention span of 10 seconds. My daughter says that this is too long, that attention span is currently 3 to 5 seconds, so any video longer than 5 seconds won't work. I will A/B test this. But this is where modern scum are today.Natural_Born_Cynic wrote: ↑September 21st, 2023, 1:29 pmMuh DICK is more important than your solution!! Nigguh! F*ck yo solution nigguh! F*ck yo solution!![]()

The 90s was the last decade that America had soul. Nirvana proves that.

Damn.., the current generation is in deep trouble if they or your daughter(no offense), has an attention span of 3 to 5 seconds.fschmidt wrote: ↑September 21st, 2023, 1:46 pmI want to add an explanatory autoplay video to a web site. I feel sorry for them. Previous generations had much more concentration and mental power. Dysgenics in effect.
