I have thought about this as well. I have been hearing how many policy changes for the bad in various countries were brought on by the US government. If we get to the point where we can't even get out of the country, I will have to think long and hard, but I would rather expatriate, if possible.

There has never been a revolution in the world which hadn't been designed, planned and masterminded by an elite. Perhaps an up & coming elite (eg. the upper middle class and the industrial aristocracy), as opposed to an established one (the land-owning based aristocracy), still a small group of powerful individuals. It has never been by the people, for the people, and never will be.
