Indonesian women on TV show

I've mentioned Indonesian women in many threads. That's where my wife is from. 'Take Me Out' has franchises around the world, and they have one in Jakarta. If you want to know what Indonesian women look like, I'd say most of these are above average looking, and they apparently chose the lighter ones for the program and may have made them up to lighten them up, too. There are plenty of light-skinned girls like this, but also a variety of darker shades of skin that don't show up much on TV.

When I was in Indonesia, I found Indonesian TV shows horrifically boring or stupid, sometimes featuring a woman crying on the floor for 5 minutes while music played. This is one of the better Indonesian language shows. I figured I'd play it in the background while working on spreadsheets to keep my listening skills up to par.

The white guy seems to have done pretty well. The Japanese didn't have any takers. One light stayed on for the black guy, and she seemed surprised, as if she hadn't turned of the light on time. The Dutch citizen who is actually half Indonesian but looks white was extremely popular. The ladies found him to be very good looking. Indonesians aren't as uptight as some north Asians, and some will flirt, but most girls aren't this flirty and direct in real life, but it's part of the show. But if you don't know the language, a lot of that will be lost on you anyway.

If you lived in Jakarta, especially if you picked up some of the language, you might be able to get on the show, and maybe go on a date. The give the winners 3 million rupiah, which would be over $300. So they'd pay a girl to go out with you.

It's funny watching this bubble gum for the mind, which you guys for the most part can't understand. The women focus a lot on the man's job. He'll say his job (DJ, for example) and lots of lights go out. Girls will say they are afraid men in certain professions won't be faithful, but I think a lot of it is they are looking for security. Some of the girls will say materialistic stuff that you wouldn't hear guys in the US say. But they seem to be more open to a guy who is not 'cool'.
