For the most part, Americans are completely oblivious of just how close the country is to a total disintegration of its fiat monetary system…the United States financial system died in 2008(stage one collapse). It has been kept alive by policy deregulation, monetary printing, and market manipulation. The constant negative rhetoric of gold in the main stream media keeps the mass psychology of the public away from investing in the precious metals and into increasing worthless paper retirement assets.

The paradigm shift in gold and silver will occur when the United States enters into Stage 2, the commercial collapse. Stage 2: Commercial collapse. Faith that “the market shall provide” is lost. Money is devalued and/or becomes scarce, bank bailins, commodities are hoarded, import and retail distribution chains break down and widespread shortages of survival necessities become the norm. As businesses shut down, storefronts are boarded up and the population is left largely penniless and dependent on FEMA and charity for survival.

That's a great point. And if you carefully examine his posts back through 2011, you could have made buckets of money just doing pretty much the opposite of what he advocated, implied, or recommended. If you invested against Mr. Taco's many doomsday calls for successive months and years and shorted gold and silver as well, you'd have probably made fantastic returns in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 to date. So your point can be expanded to say Taco's posts in general are exactly backwards lol.

I think the cultural collapse is also somewhat taking place, since it's VERY common to basically have a disregardive mentality with everything (so it's like there isn't really something there- more of a hollow space).

As far as the Fallout/Mad Max/The Road skills go, a lot of people don't seem to have the skills for that- then again, it's not all skills. Let's be real: you need resources to do things, even if you're not very materialistic & it doesn't matter if you're a good shot if you don't have bullets. Or if you get ambushed, shot from a distance, killed in your sleep, or any number of vitiating situations. Just to mention it, there's not much of a mentality to go against enemies- only someone that is an easy target, like someone that's not aligned against them.

It won't happen in my expected lifespan, guaranteed. There might be a great depression or whatever, but certainly no intractable collapse. Such things are too easy to remedy with modern technology. A financial collapse would likely be met with a consolidation of all currencies to one world currency that is centrally managed and electronic in nature, which would allow rapid reversal of any economic condition at the cost of economic sovereignty. I don't think it's a good thing to happen for many reasons, but if a global financial disaster truly hit, it could be rapidly dissolved in such a manner.
