Here is another idea for gaining employment. We all know that mining and extractive industries pay high wages, but if you are not living in the mining areas you are unlikely to be offered such jobs. On the other hand, if you are a young man living is some small isolated town with a large mine near it you will almost inevitably be offered a job, since the government requires the mining companies to put money into the local economy. Thus all you have to do is go live in such a town until you are accepted as a local and you will be given a lucrative job.
The problem is that it is hellishly expensive to live in such towns, so you would likely run out of money long before being offered a job. A solution would be to use dating sites to meet a lonely older woman in such a town who had no romantic options due to her age and isolation. Then you could pack your generic viagra substitute and go live with and sponge off her for the required time. Once you were employed driving a dump truck or whatever you would likely be able to make contacts allowing you to ditch the old broad and work at other mines, perhaps on a fly in fly out basis, and live happily ever after.

Re: Employment idea for young men
Lol
I understand there is an -obvious- excess of chumps in mining zones, thus no such thing as that lonely older woman, she now would be a picky "cougar" lol
There was a video on the dating problems for men in Fracking areas, but for the life of me I can't find it now.

1)Too much of one thing defeats the purpose.
2)Everybody is full of it. What's your hypocrisy?

Re: Employment idea for young men
I was thinking of the mines where almost all workers are fly in fly out and probably don't have the time to have sex with nearby skanks but rather would save their money for fun back where they come from. But maybe you are right. Just an idea young men might like to explore.droid wrote:Lol

Cornfed,
Does the man in your scenario have to be totally broke and have no financial resources at all?
I don't know much about what mining towns are like. I visited a mining camp and ate in the mess hall in Indonesia once. They had an Indonesian food bar and a western food bar. The food was really good, close to the quality of a buffet you might pay for in the US.
Is it hard to find work in mining towns? Are there McDonald's, Burger King, etc? How remote is the town you have in mind? You might be able to find some barely subsistence work in a mining town, and then get on at a mine. If you had an online business set up you could do anywhere, you could find a mining town that isn't in the middle of nowhere so that the housing is not too highly in demand and work out of there until you get your dream dump truck job.
If you want to go international with the mining, do something besides drive a dump truck. Either go to college or trade school, or apply for a line of work that is technical that all mines of that type need. You might set yourself up to go work overseas at a mining camp that pays well where they provide you housing, food in the cafeteria, vacations, etc.
About 15 years ago, a man in the oil industry said they always needed good mud techs. The 'mud' is a concoction they make that exerts the right amount of pressure to keep the oil from spurting out when they hit oil. In the old movies, the oil sprays out of the well all over the people and whoever owns the land jumps up and down and says, 'black gold' all happy and excited as he is covered with a tar-looking substance. Nowadays, the departments of governments concerned with the environment do not allow that, and oil companies do not want the waste. The 'mud' keeps that from happening.
