Actually, there are more poor white people in America than poor black people (that's not surprising since the white population greatly exceeds the black population). Bernie Sanders was the one who responded that "black lives matter" when he was asked if all lives matter or if black lives matter. Bernie will tell the lies he needs to tell to pander to a certain demographic. His initials (B.S.) are very fitting.

Bernie Sanders is losing the black vote to Hillary Clinton. So by saying white people don't know what it's like to be poor, he is pandering to try and get more black votes.
