Celebrities- no clue why they are famous?

I remember many years ago seeing Kardashians on tabloid covers. I'd hear about them. I knew they were famous, but I had no clue why, so I had to look them up. And they weren't famous for invading Bejor either.

Years later, I saw the old first episode of their reality series. Years later, Kanye West did a gospel album. I'd heard he was a rapper, but never heard any of his music. I found an 'album filler' style pic of music of his, a video where he was making out on a motorcycle with Kim Kardashian.

I heard of Kid Rock. I had no clue what his music sounded like or what he was about. But he blue up some Bud Light cans because of their promotion of transgenderism. Then I heard some of his music, but it sounded kind of country.

I read something about one of the Jonas brothers today. I know they are or were singers and they had purity rings. I don't think I've ever heard any of their music.

Am I the only one not in touch with pop culture?

Nowadays, there is a bit of mainstream music through the radio, but with thousands of streaming options, there isn't really a common pop culture. My kids will make jokes about videos online. But I ask how many hits it has, and they say a few hundred thousand. When I was a kid, I got adult's allusions to stuff from popular culture like a TV commercial or Mr. Spock.
