Iran plans to send ships close to U.S. waters!
Iran's navy is going to deploy ships close to US territorial waters, its commander in chief was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
"As the global oppression (the US) is present not far from our maritime border ... our navy is going to have a strong presence not far from US territorial waters," the Irna news agency quoted Admiral Habibollah Sayyari as saying.
On July 19 Sayyari also said that Iran was going to send "a flotilla into the Atlantic".
The remarks come as another high-ranking Iranian appeared to reject a recent US request to establish a "red phone" link between the countries to avoid unwanted confrontation between their armed forces in the Gulf region.
"When we are in the Gulf of Mexico, we will establish direct contact with the United States," Ali Fadavi, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, was quoted in press reports as saying.
"In the view of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the presence of the US in the Persian Gulf is illegitimate and makes no sense."
The Iranian navy has been developing its presence in international waters since last year, regularly launching vessels in the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden to protect Iranian ships from Somali pirates operating in the area.
Iran also sent two ships into the Mediterranean for the first time in February, via the Suez Canal, to the annoyance of Israel and the United States.
And in July, leaders announced that a Kilo class submarine had completed an inaugural mission in the southern Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.

The U.S. government is a hypocrite. It's okay to bomb the hell out of a foreign country and send ships and soldiers around the world, but when another country does the same, oh the horror! What bullshit! Washington gets a taste of its own medicine! I bet most stupid Americans will see this as an act of war and want to drop nuclear bomb on Iran or something. Can't they see that Iran is just trying to expose the double standard of American hegemony and imperialism around the world? I remember Ron Paul a few years back in a debate making a comment about how Americans react if China was sending ships and troops near our borders? How would we like it? Not so much is my guess.
Yeah, and all the neocons in the audience were booing and hollering. How dare he use such logic?zboy1 wrote:The U.S. government is a hypocrite. I think Ahmadinejad is a Jew and Gaddafi is a Jew. Castro is a Jew. Keep that in mind, controlled opposition on both sides. Don't fall for the media version of reality. That's a trap even in domestic politics. It's all an act where we the common man always end up getting screwed. The stakes are high for being deceived this time around (WW3). Watch out and wake up. Do not react to news reports like this, or Casey Antony, or any of that shit. It's made to manipulate you. Don't give it attention and you take away their power over you.
It's really not feasible for them to accomplish this. The only reason we can do it is because we have bases and allies worldwide where we can resupply our fleet of supply ships with fresh produce, fruits, poultry, dairy, foods, toiletries, and fuel and we're capable of resupplying any battlegroup in the world within a matter of days.
Iran has no such capabilities. Even if they make it to America, they're going to be shutting down their engines to conserve fuel and living off rations.
Only the ignorant would be "up in arms" about this. It's a show of imagined power.
But I'm sure the media is stoking the fires of fear to play this up to be way more than it is. (I don't know as I'm currently deployed in the middle of the Pacific and our satellite TV system is broken...internet still works thank God.)
