Communication methods abroad???
Communication methods abroad???
My issue....
Talking to a Filipina woman working in Kuwait. Before anyone asks...yes, its legit....
She only has a cell phone. We can email and FB chat....thats all. I make Youtube vids for her...but thats all. We want to do video chat...like Skype. But she says Skype will only work part way on her phone....i wont be able to hear her.
I do everything from a Mac....
Any ideas on Apps or systems for good communication in this situation?

But anyway I've used Facetime from phone to phone. Erratic connection but does work on phones. A nice novelty to use from time to time.
Viber works phone to phone but it's just voice and text, not video. At least you can hear her. Sort of like a walkie-talkie, you take turns talking.
Or if you like her pics and voice and profile, and you're rich, you could buy her a cheap PC with cam and built-in mike, then she could do full video Skype with voice. It rocks. If she has a shared connection it can go dark then come back. But if she is on a decent broadband or DSL connection with no other bandwidth users it should work great.
You'd need to tell us more about her phone. If she can email and FB chat via her phone, then it is a smartphone - correct? So why can't she use Skype? Is it she can't load the app, or doesn't have decent connectivity via cell service or wifi?Enticer wrote:Thanks

Personally when I was looking I found video chatting to be a total necessity.
