Overheard from Taiwanese ex pat worker stationed in Burma:

* The monthly salaey of new doctors is $300/month. They line up out the door to apply for foreign company (medical related) jobs that pay $700/mo. It was like this in Taiwan 40 years ago and in China 20 years ago.

* The daily rate at decent quality hotel is $300 per night. yes, same as 1 momth salary for a starting local doctor in Burma.

* The Taiwanese ex pat worker would not specify his salary, only that it was "several times" of pay in Taiwan, and he gets 2 months paid vacation and 12 round trip ticket to Taiwan every year. He is in medical related field.

* High speed rail connecting to China currently in construction. (thiught this was on hold or cancelled??)
