There were riots in LA overnight after the Lakers won the NBA Championship. The same thing happened last year when the Lakers won the championship. I like the Lakers, I am a fan of Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson but some of the fans go crazy after a championship. During the riots last night, car windows were smashed and police officers were attacked. Here is the story in more detail:

That must have been some game. I know LA area traffic was real bad in the afternoon as many were leaving work early to catch the big game.jamesbond wrote:There were riots in LA overnight after the Lakers won the NBA Championship. To bad I had to miss it. I was on a flight from LAX to Chicago Midway at the time and every 20 minutes or so, the pilot got on the PA to announce the score. So I new it was a close game towards the end.
I was kind of thinking about the Game 7 curse. If I understand right, in the last 50 years, the Lakers have faced the Celtics in Game 7 of the playoffs four times (3 in Boston and 1 in LA) and all of those times, the Lakers lost. I guess this game broke that spell.
The riots are reminisent of the Michael Jordan days in Chicago. But the Chicago riots were much uglier.

Yeah, back when the bulls were winning championships parts of the city got trashed. It's a shame to see that crap happening in your city. Luckily I live in the suburbs but I do like going into city on the weekends.Rock wrote:The riots are reminisent of the Michael Jordan days in Chicago. But the Chicago riots were much uglier.
I have thought about moving into the city (more fun things to do for single people) but the cost of condos in Chicago is outrageous even for a one bedroom ($200,000 for a one bedroom in a good neighborhood and if you want a garage add on about $ 20,000 more and this is the LEAST expensive one bedroom you will find in a nice area).
