The golden years of whatever this place was were already gone and buried when I joined in 2014 and now we enter 2020 with very little left that is of any use to anyone.

The golden years of internet forums in general ended a decade ago and things like Facebook and Yahoo Answers stole their thunder during the corporate consolidation of the internet. People were all too ready to leave a good thing and the before we noticed the old internet that had been building since the 90s was dead or a ghost town. Netflix and Youtube and others I'm forgetting were also much more fun to use before the 2010s. It's easy to complain but I don't think members here even bothered to advertise this place to certain people looking for an alternative to what was popular in the 2010s, like Reddit, Roosh and manosphere videos and comments on Youtube. It's easy to say there's little left of use for others after you've learned a lot and don't need it anymore but what about young men. Terrible online papers like Zerohedge or Dailybeast and pornsites are still thriving, most married men spend their time online there but wouldn't feel comfortable reading HA.

Yeah forums have died. I mean RooshV is an embarrasment and it's better to just go on Reddit for most topics. Even Great Leader seems to have abandoned this place.

As for Xiongmao being HA, well 3 attempts to live in China have failed miserably. I've now fled to Bangkok because STD from ladyboy seems a better bet than viral pneumonia from a bat.

As I've said before, all forums are like virtual taverns, where people get together to talk, sometimes seriously, sometimes drunken nonsense. It's up to the bar owner to set the tone, mainly by kicking out people who don't vibe with the group.

RooshV forum went from one extreme to another, first kicking out anyone who didn't see notch counts as the measure of a man's achievement in life, now kicking out anyone who doesn't agree with his religious views. When moderation matches the zeitgeist, a forum flourishes, as the RooshV forum did for a long time. When moderation runs counter to the zeitgeist, a forum dies.

HA never had much moderation, so it tended to attract crazies, which drove off quality posters, but it did manage to sort of flourish simply because the idea of expatting for a better sex life was the zeitgeist for a while.

At this point, the zeitgeist seems to have changed, so that men are less interested in expatting for sex. Maybe men in general are bored by real sex and prefer porn nowadays, or maybe they are all obese. Its not lack of money, since there are tons of retirees in USA, Britain, etc with incomes of $1500/month, which is rich in small towns of Eastern Europe, Latin America or South East Asia. (The appeal of expatting while young was and always will be very limited, given how hard it is to earn an income in poor countries.) Maybe the zeitgeist has changed because people have long been anticipating something like this coronavirus, that will upset the situation of easy international travel that we currently have.

There was a certain vibe on the forum before, back when when people like @Rock were still commenting, @Ghost was still around.

Now that version of HappierAbroad is dead. And it died on August 28, 2018.

I admit I took it for granted when I joined like a lot of other lurkers probably. All the different characters and the thriving debates seemed like a fact of life. I wish I contributed more when they were still here or showed my appreciation to the really good posts.

PublicDuende was a good poster and I said at the time that perma banning was excessive. (Winston is very sensitive to certain types of criticism phrased the wrong way, he also banned CanadianFA for criticism harsher than PD, but other people phrased the same underlying criticism more politely and nothing happened.) However, there have always been interesting people coming and going. For example that SPark guy (I forget the exact screenname) who had sex with a doll while his lesbian friend held his hand, droid, the hot-tempeted Tapatio or whatever was the name of that Mexican guy with the crazy Japanese girlfriend, the young guy with the Indonesian wife 20 years older, Kradmelder the south African, etc, etc. What has really changed, IMO, is Winston himself has mostly abandoned the forum. I believe it was Winston's personality that ultimately attracted people. Without him regularly posting, the forum is on life support. (It would also be nice for him to moderate shit like that Johnny1975-yick feud.)

This forum has never been the magnet for the people it should be - people happier abroad, we had the right guru for it though - Winston - he put his money where he mouth was and went abroad searching for love - not just bloody anywhere either - Russia in the early 2000's - at the height of neo-nazi violence against people who weren't white and people who looked like Winston got murdered in the streets - what he did, and he travelled the whole country - took sheer guts and bravery and he came unstuck more than once but he kept to his mission - now, in those days, he portrayed himself as a 'good guy' looking for a wife, it was only later that the script changed and he became this Philippine based sexpat who wanted to f**k thousands of women - congratulations - you can't say he didn't fulfil his true wish - if he wanted a pretty, blonde Russian wife - he could have easily have got one - could he have f***ed thousands of Russian women? No - that wouldn't have happened if he had lived there a thousand lifetimes.

This forum has attracted many many crazy people - it has attracted many people who have never been abroad and would find the task of going abroad not only frightening but physically and mentally unsurmountable - they hate being where they are because not only do women ignore them but so does society, they're too small, too old, too bald, too fat, too introverted - whatever it is but they don't have the fortitude to leave and go somewhere else - loads of them like that on here - JamesBond, CdnFA - who went into a meltdown because a workmate was talking about the girls he f***ed in Thailand and went into a similar meltdown on here when I shared my story of a bunch of Chinese women checking out my arse in a supermarket - how can this forum help them except to turn it into a cesspool about 'feminazis' there are posters here who hate their crappy lives and blame people for it but won't do anything about changing it because they lack the absolute basic fortitude to move away and create a life for themselves or at least create the platform.

And then you have the posters who have God complexes - people like MattHanson - a basically pleasant young man - but wanted to be treated like a 'God' on foreign shores because he's white and American and not because he has any Godlike qualities - a lot of people seem to think if you're white and American - women thousands of miles away will want to f**k you on sight! People will treat you like a God like they treated Livingston on the banks of the Zambezi - that will never happen anywhere these days - Will. N Dowd - he was so handsome and had such a big dick (Will . N Dowd - ya geddit? ) - he had to leave Vancouver where he couldn't get laid for shit and head to the Philippines because he was a god too if I remember rightly - and there are people - people like 'Ghost' who admitted that they would have stayed right at home if it wasn't for the fact they couldn't get a woman there and they wonder away cluessely why they're not 'happier abroad' he was another one ready to blame 'The Matrix' if his Filipina girlfriend got pregnant though he didn't like wearing condoms - then it is me who gets blamed when I point this ridiculous state of affairs out and then am accused of 'trolling'.

HappyGuy may have been abroad but unlikely, he is just pure trolling this place and if there is one thing more unproductive than someone posting on here about their experiences abroad, it's someone on here who hasn't been anywhere but just wants to troll the place when he is not working constant night shift, why?

We have good posters on here Yohan, Falcon, Marcos, Zboy, CE, we had PublicDudiene, we had Kradmelder, Xiongmao (bit of a wet lettuce that one though...) JonnyLaw (because he makes me laugh...) and a fair few others but they all have one thing in common - they've lived abroad and been happier and this is what this site should really be about - are western women shit - mostly they are but if you don't give two f***s about them then why talk about them? f**k them - live your life and be happy - if you can't get off your arse in 'toxic' America or the UK or wherever you are - the f**k off out of here - I don't want to read your whinging about why your life is shit if you cannot be arsed holding down a job or educating yourself or learn a trade to change your shit existence - because at the end of the day, we own our lives and existences - when all is said and done you have to 'shit or get off the pot' because life abroad isn't easy, I have changed a lot since I left the UK to live in the Far East and have benefited from a lot of hard lessons.

As for dating abroad - here in China, I am either seen as 'exotic' or a freak like a circus act - is it better than back home? I suppose it is but it comes with its bullshit, I have been turned down plenty times by women I liked for a lot more reasons that existed back home. That crap happens here, and if a country with 800 million women isn't perfect then nowhere is! Living abroad is that - the rough comes with the smooth, you take the good and shit bits of everything and try to find something you can live with. The only thing you can definitely improve is yourself - not what's around you, which you have very little control over.

When I joined this forum more than a decade ago, the idea of leaving America to be Happier Abroad was socially heretical, blasphemous, and subversive even. Well, in 2020 the concept of happier abroad is very nearly mainstream. There are many different groups who live the happier abroad lifestyle under different headings:

Passport Brothers
Remote Workers
Digital Nomads
#SYSBM (Save YourSelves Black Men)
Perpetual Travelers
Nomad Capitalists
International Minimalists
Sovereign Men

The entire world now knows and acknowledges that American women are horrible women. The entire world now knows that America is a cultureless cesspool of unhealthy degenerates. So the mission of HA has been accomplished. What is left is a disjointed, motley crew of non-conformists who have no core ideas around which to rally so the guns got turned inward.

If this forum wanted to turn things back around, it should seek to fill in the vacuum created by RooshV's deletion of his famed travel section. Short of that, Happier Abroad will have difficulty finding a new mission that draws in new members because they can go so many other places for practical information and discussion on lifestyles abroad.

I'd say the forum has periodically alternated between being dead and reviving a little bit over the decade I've been here. There was never really a golden era, though some very good posters have come and gone at different times. But if I had to name a date when it became officially stupid and anti-free speech, yeah it would be the date public duende was banned, and I said as much at the time.

As for the pissing contests, I used to get into them occasionally, but it shouldn't take too many of them to realize how utterly pointless and time wasting they are.

No Marcos. You have a bad memory. I explained all this several times.

1. PD was not banned for predicting doom and gloom for my dating life in Europe. It started out that way and then got worse. He kept insulting me and making impossible to know predictions that even the best psychics cannot make. He became full of it. Other stuff escalated too.

2. I gave him many warnings but he wouldn't listen. He finally asked to be banned. Yes he himself ASKED to be banned. It's in his own words in his own posts. I didn't want to ban him. I tried to avoid that. But he gave me no choice. He asked for it, LITERALLY, not figuratively. What was I to do? He also spoke lies too which I made a list of. So he had violations of the rules too.

3. Plus he was super arrogant for claiming to speak for all European women. In every country I go I've always found SOME women that liked me. It was never zero. So him predicting zero was totally pompous and too dumb to be accidental. No one would do that.

4. No Marcos. PD never said that I had to "change my attitude" to get girls in Europe. Show me where he said that. You totally imagined that dude. His claim, which he repeated many times, was that it didn't matter what my attitude was or what I did, none of that mattered to him. He merely said I couldn't get any girls in Europe not even as friends, because of my looks and status and because they are super picky now and only like younger guys. He stated it as a FACT and he claimed that it was a CERTAINTY that no women in Europe would like me, even as a friend. Yes he said that literally. No one in their right mind would say that. Not even God would be pompous enough to say that.

5. I told you guys a thousand times, love and women do not follow linear logic. Some women love you for no reason and cannot explain why. And some handsome men are not loved because women just don't have feelings for them. There's no linear logic to love, emotions and heart. Women do not know why they love or like someone. There's no formula like "good looks + good money = genuine love from women". No such formula or logical equation exists to predict female attraction. Even ugly men find women who love them, if they have that special chemistry or destiny or intangible quality that triggers it. Love is VERY mysterious, not predictable at all. So PD was totally wrong and pompous to the extreme. No question about it. It's a FACT. It had nothing to do with a simple disagreement of opinion. He claimed to know things with certainty that no one could claim. That's a huge character flaw. I explained this already in other threads. Learn to read and remember stuff Marcos.

No one can predict with 100 percent certainty that any particular man will never get any dates at all in any particular country. Not even in the USA or Japan or UK. You can say what you think or that it will be difficult, etc. But you can't state it as a 100 percent fact like 2+2=4. Only a weird nasty asshole would do that. No normal person would do that. Even God could not predict that. No one is perfect. Not even God. And definitely not PD.

Anyway, I hope PD has learned his lesson. People should grow and change and learn from the error of their ways.

Also, people in this forum have been banned and returned before, like CE for instance. So we can ask PD if he wants to come back and give him a second chance if you guys want. Remember he asked to be banned. Literally. No one should boycott a forum anyway just because one guy was banned. Especially if he asked for it literally.

This forum has its ups and downs. If you guys want to revitalize this forum, then we need to start creating interesting topics that the other members will find useful to them. Only then will they return and participate again for a while. If you guys create some interesting topics, I can send them to my mailing list too, so the former forum members will see them. It's up to you and me and us. Create good content, and it will attract new and former members. Also you guys gotta learn to be more positive too. Positive forums will attract more mainstream people. We are a niche movement anyway so we won't attract mainstream types anyway. However, we can attract more people who are like us, if we are positive and less negative and create better quality content. That will attract better quality posters.

I don't agree. All those groups you mentioned are internet niche groups. The media doesn't give this type of movement any coverage at all. Not even the alternative media like Alex Jones or Russia Today or Corbett Report mention this movement. Even the Truth movement doesn't ever discuss going abroad as a solution to the NWO or to America's decline or to the police state or to any problem at all. In fact, every time David Icke or Jordan Maxwell gets asked about going abroad to escape the NWO, they discourage it and say going abroad is useless, because the NWO will follow you in any country you go to. And then they leave it at that.

For a movement to be mainstream, it would have to be covered on the news, or mentioned in magazines, or discussed in TED talks, etc. But we are not. Movements like HA don't even have a Wikipedia page. Any movement that's gone mainstream would at least have a Wikipedia page.

So you see, all indicators suggest that HA type movements are NOT mainstream, and are still an internet niche that receives no media attention or coverage. Not even coverage from alternative media. Hence it's still way ahead of its time and outside the box of even alternative groups.

In fact, no media, whether mainstream or alternative, even mentions that America is socially isolating, or that people don't talk to strangers in America, or that it's hard for guys to get dates in America, or that loneliness is an epidemic in America, or that it's hard to make friends in America, or that it's hard to get a girlfriend in America, or that there's no human connection in America, etc. No one mentions these things. They are taboo. No. All that media talks about are economic problems and lack of jobs and the employment rate. Never any of the subjects we discuss here.

Thus, our movement is not mainstream at all. Not even alternative. Just off the chart and not even considered. And the social and dating issues we discuss here are not even discussed in any media, whether mainstream or alternative, or news website. Instead, they are totally ignored and treated as nonexistent.

It's up to you and me and us. Create good content, and it will attract new and former members. Also you guys gotta learn to be more positive too. Positive forums will attract more mainstream people. We are a niche movement anyway so we won't attract mainstream types anyway. However, we can attract more people who are like us, if we are positive and less negative and create better quality content. That will attract better quality posters.

How wrong was PublicDuende really after all this time has passed? His prediction was you would not find love, that you would not get married, find The One, etcetera... it's now 2020 and you are pushing fifty and I'm not trying to be overly negative here, but you haven't exactly proven him wrong in the meantime, have you?

You might want to consider unblocking him. It would benefit the forum to have him around, if ever he could be enticed to return. And he's been living in Manila ever since, has gotten engaged to a gorgeous Filipina and has found solid employment / some sort of business venture over there. I for one would love to have him around again, hear some updates on his life and how he's been... you've unbanned people who you kicked out for a lot less, so you might as well let him return, too. Chances are he still wouldn't care to post, but I say it's worth a shot.

As for the whole mess with PD, yes you explained it repeatedly. I was there when the whole thing went down, I read the arguments you had with him and I still believe the block was uncalled for and you should have just disengaged from the debate a lot sooner. You know, the whole "be the bigger man" thing rather than engage someone endlessly to "win" the argument. He had his vision, you had yours, no one was ever going to win over the other person.
