We have weapons to defend ourselves against the government. That was the intention of the founders, for every man to have a military weapon. Everyone owns an automatic weapon in Switzerland, it's fine.

And this was not a tragedy, 20 people dead does not make a tragedy. 20 people die every day of other things. Frankly I don't think people should own cars because it's too dangerous, way more so than guns.

Guns saved way more than 20 people's lives this year from criminals in America.

No. Obviously anything can be legal anywhere with the appropriate paperwork. However, automatic weapons have been federally regulated since the 30s, so you would require a federal class II license and state and local permits.

Effectively outlawed for most people since a machine gun has to be registered prior to 1986 so a crappy AK will run in the 5 figures.

I don't see what banning guns will do anyway. Japan has crazy guys but they use knives instead of guns. Guns are hard to get hold of here in the UK, but instead we have a major knife problem.

The best way to solve this is for society to stop making social outcasts of people who look or think differently. As a marginal outcast myself I've been on the receiving end of stuff that makes me rage.

Count on politicians to not see the wood from the trees. I guess they'll have to lock up the entire readership of 4chan or something.

As for the government having tanks and crap. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan. Now imagine America, where I think about 1-3% population is veterans and 10% of them was line units. And I can say, that all the guys I know, don't like the government. I think people who makes the argument about, what can you do with an AK. Defend your home? No, but plenty of people have done just that against trained teams and they run like little girls once they take a few. It's only because the homeowner voluntarily surrenders and the neighbors don't get involved that it doesn't become a massacre.

I already explained to you how that works, as others have explained one weapon gets better weapons. There are plenty of modern of examples how that has worked.
