TV in terminal decline

Post by Cornfed »

This is great news. The regime's evil propaganda organ is on the way out. Hopefully this will give non-evil men who frequent Internet forums more influence.

Also the best shows are usually only on Cable now...and most people can't afford it in this terrible economy.

Think yourself lucky you're not in Thailand - the home of the World's worst TV.

It's kind of sad, really, because TV production is at the best it has ever been. They are spending some real money on TV shows these days and they rival the visual quality and storytelling of great movies not too long ago. Considering that the movies Hollywood is putting out in cinemas lately have declined in every area except visual effects, good stories are becoming ever harder to find.

That article, by the way, didn't really have an ending. It just sort of stopped happening.

Am I the only one who sees this as bad news? Now that the regime is realizing that TV is a dead end, they'll turn their full attention to the Internet next. Up till now, the Net has been relatively free of fascism and tyranny. All that will change soon.

I used to be worried about that, but eventually, through my own marketing endeavors, I learned that it will never happen. There's a reason the advertising dollars are not on the net right now. There may be more eyeballs available, but they are not in one place, like on TV, and they never will be. The internet will always be targeted niche and advertising will remain cheap, if not disappear altogether, in the traditional sense, in favor of the way things work on the net. It is just too fractured.

I mentioned in another thread about the guy making money with a site about cement. So you have all your cement people in one place and you can likely market to them, only about cement. There is no more mass market.

At least we have the chance to fight back against the scum in this medium. It is not all one way traffic.

I just signed up for tv, internet, and phone for about $120 per month. I need to watch Premier League soccer and Euro Champions League. I find it to be more exciting than baseball or football. Plus the 45 minute halves mean no advertising which is one reason why soccer is not so popular here. It will be the first thing to go if I have no money flow.

Yes, I agree: football is far superior to watching baseball or basketball or American Football (although I like to watch MLB and the NBA in my free time).

Just about everything is available on Netflix (the disk plan, not the streaming one, which has a limited selection of the crappiest stuff). Plus there are no ads. I've found some good TV series to watch. And it's dirt cheap compared to cable. You just have to wait 6 months to a year if you want to see the newest season.

well, most stuff on american TV is crap. perfect example is the history channel. it use to have great programming but it too fell to the "reality show" crap wave. the internet is becoming a bastion to good shows because it can target the specific niche in a cheap and efficient way. however, i still think TV will be popular, like radio.
