Should I read a Roosh V or some other PUA book?

Yeah, game is a lifelong thing, Enticer is right about that. I've seen a lot of women walk away from marriages because the guy got boring.

Another thing you can learn from Roosh (and also me) is that it takes PRACTICE. I must have met 50 odd women this year (and believe me, most of them WERE odd!!!!).

I am improving as I got 4 dates out of a 9 before it ended. A couple of years ago it was only 1 date.

I say be aggressive about your work and building your life goals. Create a life and women will want to be a part of it. Learning from some book how to be "aggressive" about women, while your life is not in order, will get you nowhere. Be something, and you will not have to worry about chasing women.

I've gotten more aggressive with women, which has given me results, but while I had a good life and good job in my mid-20s I was dateless for years. You can have all the bait in the world and still not catch a single fish if you don't have the hook.

The actual material, the canned stories, pick-up lines, etc of PUAs seem obnoxious. This stuff seems geared towards very immature, slutty girls. I'm gleaning some good knowledge of female psychology though, and even moreso about men and what it actually means to be a MAN (who'd'a thunk?). Some of this knowledge could have really helped me during my relationship with my ex, and could have helped a lot during my dateless 20s.

I've known Erik von Markovik (Mr. E -- Mystery), and more than a few of the other PUA's. One thing they all agree upon: get your ass out there and approach a shedload of women. Get some experience doing approaches. Don't take it too seriously. Just have fun, be playful and learn from your mistakes.

Since most guys aren't interested in racking up unbelievable numbers of women, using the above 'method' will improve your game sufficiently to get you a woman or two.

That's the thing. Why would anyone on this board be interested in PUA. It serves no purpose outside the USA. It's like learning the difficult techniques of catching sharks when you could just move to a place where any child can pull fish from the river with their bare hands.

You could be any type of guy abroad and you can find someone to truly love you. I am always seeing some article about a guy who is in his 50's, overweight and has Aspergers, but he has a beautiful 25 year old Asian wife who takes care of him. She is not some magazine model where you look at the photo of the couple and think she is after his pension. She is likely just a average to cute girl locally, who is gorgeous to an outside, who likes the guy because he treats her so well.

I feel like this is a very valid point that makes me view most of this PUA stuff as nonsense outside of the female psychology insights. You can't tell me all of those local men who are married to the woman from these countries/cultures all subscribed to the western PUA theories and 'game' cult that they have spawned. The most important thing is that a man has direction in his life and is working towards something. All this chicanery that the PUA espouses should stay with the dysfunctional western females it was designed to manipulate and conquer.

So true. The problems with PUA are:

1) It treats women like they can be put into formulas and manipulated as such. Not true. Anyone with real experience in human relations knows that that's not true. Therefore, sadly enough, PUA gurus probably have no real life experience in human relations with females, contrary to their claims, unless they are lying.

2) The stories and conversations in PUA literature look fake, fictional and rehearsed. Real conversations with women don't flow like that. The testimonials also look unauthentic and unnatural. Some of David DeAngelo's insiders have confessed that his testimonials were all faked.

3) PUA teaches you to act in ways that aren't really you. It tries to get you to be something you're not. That makes you look fake and it shows.

4) PUA doesn't work because if she's not already attracted to you, no amount of technique will change that. If she is already attracted to you, then you don't need PUA anyway. You just need to talk to her and escalate things naturally. Even in the movies, when men pickup women, they do not use PUA.

5) PUA tries to scam its followers out of thousands of dollars through PUA bootcamps which cost at least a thousand dollars. At these bootcamps, the guru hires a woman to work on, which is all staged.

6) PUA gurus never use a hidden cam to show that they can go anywhere to any nightclub and pick up girls as they claim. If they cold approach women with a hidden cam, and show that they get rejected, they will lose credibility. So they never do it. This speaks volumes.

7) I've never known anyone in real life whose dating life turned around by using PUA. The results of PUA seem to all be in fictional stories full of hype and bullshit.

Roosh does have some info on women abroad, but for the most part, it seems like a forum for PUA's and "game". I don't like game. I tried it for a short while, and it didn't work out, didn't like it. I don't like the concept of having to figure out all these complex, contradictory techniques just to attempt to seduce immature, superficial girls (notice I said girls instead of women). Plus, Winston said it. "Game" might actually work for some guys, but for a lot of us, that's not who we are, it's just unnatural and conflicts with who you are. Dating and courtship are not supposed to be complicated to the point where men have to look into this sort of crap.

However, I have seen that there is a PUA scene in Europe. Some of you said there's no PUA outside the states.

You can't teach a man how to be a man, let alone as a (paid, presumably) date coach. The basic values that define a man are usually taught during his first 20 years of his life. Miss that time window and you'll just have a man who is dysfunctional to start with, and for how hard he might want to follow your advice, will never really be able to put it in practice, as it's not something you can learn in 10 days. Lots of women purposely hook up and marry weak men, because they know they can mould them in any shape of form they want until they get the chance to jump on the next ship. A relationship based on such premise is doomed to fail no matter how much "alpha advice" you receive at any stage of it.
